    Hardly have a period

    I'm 18
I have already talked to the doctor about this
he put me on birth control to regulate my period
because I hardly have one... it will come like 4 weeks from now for 4 days then 2 weeks from then for 3 days then jump to 2 months later for 4 days... never ever regular
hated the lessina birth control (gained weight, sunburned, actually had cramps)

    so
    my question is
do I even have an ovulation then?
what will this do to my libido when I'm older?
will I be able to have children?
am I less likely to have an oopsy? cause I hate birth control I just want to use condoms for the future

    thank you for your timeee

the old saying "every woman's body is different"...
I got my period when I was 10 yrs old (I didn't even know what it was at the time...) after a few years, it was very irregular...
esp when I turned 18...I would miss it for 6-8 months straight and when I did get it, it would be like for a day or 2...
I started taking birth control when I was 19 (when I started dating my "now" husband...so I started taking that for him and to have a "cycle)
there ARE different kinds of birth control, which Im sure your dr would/should have told you...if something doesn't seem to feel or work right, mention it and try something else (I think it usually takes about 3 months for them to take "full" effect)

as for this affecting other things, like I said, everyone's bodies are different...I guess to say you'll learn as you go (that may be some pretty lame advice, but its all I've got right now.)
I've heard birth control affects some women's libido, but that wasn't the case w/ me (now having a baby on the other hand, yeah, you may "refrain" from sex for awhile)

I have this same problem. I started my period at 12 years old and they were normal. After having sex I got on birth control at about 14yrs old. Some time in between this I started to have irregular periods. At first I wouldn't have one for about three months then it would come on. At about 16 years old they stopped coming on all together. My Dr. then gave me medicine to make my period come on and then put me on the patch to make them normal. On the patch my periods come on like clockwork. But any time I decide I don't want to be on birth control anymore my periods WILL NOT come on. I think the longest I've went without a period is like 8 months, then I just get back on the patch to make it come on. The Doctors really don't have an answer to why this happens. I am 21 now and am worried that I won't be able to have children. I pray that is not the case. There has to be a reason for this craziness.

              HI CEBOULD,

I was just reading your response to this forum question and while reading it ... it sounded EXACTLY the same as what I am going through now. I've been going to my gyno and so far he has sent me to have a transvaginal, then he put me on provera pills for 14 days and now he just prescribed me clomid pills which I have to take 3-7 days into my cycle BUT my period hasn't yet started and my last day on provera was June 2 ... would you know how long before my period would start? Also, he is sending me to get a sonohysterogram (same as what you have gone through - and I'm scared) ... Just need someone to talk too and it seems like you are going through the same thing and I thought maybe I can get some more answers.

Hoping to hear back from you.
