    explaining things to children

Now, I am a mother of three children and knew one day I would have to explain things to my daughter. Today she informs me that she has hair there. Well I don't want her to find out the way I did so I want to explain things to her, but I am not sure on how to. What is the best way to start explaining the process without scaring her away.

I am sure that there are plenty of kid-friendly internet sites that explain all she needs to know; try googling it.
There are also books out there that have helpful diagrams for different "talks" you and your children will go through over the years.
Also, hasn't her school had the "girl talk" where they explain things about a girl's period, or is she starting too early for that?
She's bound to be a little scared; I was. But my mom had told me (years before I knew what I period was, when I had started shaving for no good reason) that I could shave my legs once my period started, so I had something to "look forward to."
    Good luck

my moms a nurse and told me like she was talking to an adult
she always told me like it is - no opinions or "pee pee" names thrown it - just facts
so she got body books with pictures, diagrams, explainations of what things are and answered any question I had without making me feel embarrassed for asking them
to this day I can always talk to her about anything going on with my body - I tell her when I think I have a urine infection... she always made me feel like it wasn't a big deal to talk to her about any of it... I'm a virgin but if I was having sex and I had a problem I would be able to tell her cause she wouldn't freak out

be sure to be detailed when your answering her questions - she may start to ask other kids when she gets older and forgets some stuff
ex: even after my moms description of sex I still asked twice more in my life what it was... like how an actual baby was formed from our bodies... but I asked my neighbor which was a bad idea

It's great that you are willing to take the time to talk to your child.
When my child started to have body changes, we sat down and talked about it. They don't need a huge amount of information at this stage. They just want simple facts. Also, she definitely needs to know she can get pregnant if her cycle has started. Buying a child-friendly book that's written for kids and answering any questions she may have is a good start. When you develope this kind of relationship with her, she want have problems when she needs to talk to you later. I got my book at Books A Million (BAM).
