constant pain
For the last few months i have had burning and itching pain. i have been in to see two different doctors. the first one (on call doctor, family practice) told me bacterial infection and gave me an antibiotic. when it didn't clear up i went to my regular ob/gyn and she tested me for bacterial and yeast infection and also for chlamydia/ghonorrea. (spelling?) Everything came back negative and i still am having the same pain. now i've noticed that i have a few small cuts/scratches down there and i'm not sure if its because of the scratching or something else. i live with my fiance of two years and our relationship is totally monogomous so i'm not concerned with std's and he hasn't had any symptoms of anything. all this started probably around 4 months ago. i had a baby june of 2005 and 3 months after had an iud put in. could this have anything to do with it? i have another appointment with my ob/gyn tomorrow but i'm afraid she's not gonna have anything to tell me. last time i was in she checked all organs and said everything looked great and i didn't look irritated. also all of the pain is on the outside of my vagina. sex only hurts if he rubs up against me and i can only describe it as feeling like friction burn. thanks for listening! -

actuallly my appointment went pretty good. i found out i have vulvodynia. i had never heard of it before. from what i've found on the web it's very common but unfortunately overlooked. the cause is still unknown, it's not an std or yeast or bacterial infection but some treatments for those can help with the symptoms. i'm on diflucan and metronidazole gel. i seem to be feeling much better but still not totally comfortable. it's kind of a hit and miss i guess on what works for which women. i just hope this will work out for me! if not i can just call my ob/gyn and try something else.Comment
