This was an excellent article. I'll bookmark it and show it to anyone who asks about their menstrual cycles. Thank you!

            Pregnancy Tests:

Pregnancy tests check your pee or blood for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Your body makes this hormone after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of your uterus.

This usually happens about 6 days after fertilization. Levels of hCG rise quickly, doubling every 2 to 3 days.

Hey, I read your article it's very informative. I like the way you explained the topic. One of my friend has also gone through the same stress that even after a negative pregnancy test why there is a delay. To make sure she did multiple pregnancy tests and finally consulted with the Gynecologist and guess what doctor replied with the same reasons which you have explained in your article.

                  Stress

Stress can throw off your hormones, change your daily routine, and even affect the part of your brain responsible for regulating your period — your hypothalamus. Over time, stress can lead to illness or sudden weight gain or loss, all of which can impact your cycle.

                  Low body weight

Women with eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia may experience missed periods. Weighing 10 percent below what’s considered a normal range for your height can change the way your body functions and stop ovulation. Getting treatment for your eating disorder and healthily putting on weight can return your cycle to normal. Women who participate in extreme exercise such as marathons may also stop their periods.

Other than pregnancy, there are a variety of reasons for missed or late periods. Hormonal imbalances to major medical disorders are some of the most common causes. It's also very common for a woman's menstruation to be irregular at two points in her life: when it first begins and when menopause begins.

Advice you to consult with your gynac, as you may have a hormonal disorder.
