    Great article!
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
    ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

jns - I thought so too, jns! As someone without children, it gives me some hope that if children ever become a part of my future it does not have to be the end of sex. And most importantly, it reinforces how important a healthy sex life is to a relationship, especially with children!

I think that it's normal to have a decreased sex drive after giving birth. The first three months, I wondered: would I ever want sex again? The baby came but the sex went. It was awful and terrifying! Our baby boy slept right next to our bed and I felt too uncomfortable because of this constant closeness. But when my son grew up to 3 months I decided to put him to his own sleeping place in a separate room (play yard became our lifebuoy. Everything has changed from that time (; Luckily, nothing is permanent.

Thanks for your comment Hannah - I agree, as soon as the baby was moved further away from us, we definitely found it easier to be intimate!

The sex life after giving birth does need to attract everyone's attention. The sex life before and after giving birth is really very different. Some men's wives don't have sex after giving birth. I think this It's not right, the man's mind needs to be changed.

This is a very interesting topic. One that i think many people who aren't yet parents might ponder over. Let me help put your minds at ease. Why do you think there are so many people out there with 2 or more kids? Because child birth doesn't equate to reduce sexual satisfaction.

My wife and i have three kids, and yet we maintain a pretty healthy and consistent sex life. Now, there will be some adjustments and things may not be the exact same as before, but that's normal... and not necessecairly a bad thing.

When we were pregnant with our first child, our sex life didn't change all to much. In fact, we were probably having more sex than before, especially during the last trimester (same for our later 2 pregnancies). After our child was born, and after the healing period which is about 6 weeks, things slowly got back to normal. Just now with a new little one in the house.

Now, what you may be thinking is, "Will my(her) vagina feel the same during sex as before?" And the answer for the most part is yes. Just give it some time, after all, she did recent push a human being out of there. Now there are some outliers out there as some women reported increased sensitivity to sexual stimulation after child birth. Whereas there were some that repeated a slight decrease in sensitivity. There's also the possiblity of changes to libido or, specifically for her, the desire for sex. But that can be attributed to any number of things. However, with the right communication, support, and understanding, i firmly believe that most if not all can be overcome so you and your partner can reach a point where you both are again fully sexually satisfied. Good luck.
