i’m a young woman who’s been in a 6 year long relationship with a guy, been sexually active for 4. last night, we had sex for the first time while i was on my period (day 3 with a flexdisc) and in the heat of the moment we agreed for him to finish inside. immediately afterwards i went and showered and got what i could be out and let the disc sit in until i had to take it out… i’ve also been using pads to let gravity do its work. my cycles are consistently long (32-35 days) and i’m worries about the odds of getting pregnant… i’m not in a place to be having a kid, and while i could and would get an abortion that’s obviously not something i want to deal with. what do you think?? advice?

This is something you might want to discuss with your doctor. They can help you find birth control that is effective while not putting a damper on the experience. Because you're right, unplanned pregnancy and abortion are not fun surprises to deal with. If you don't have a family doctor, Planned Parenthood can help you.Comment

The bottomline is if you don't want to get pregnant, don't have unprotected sex. Even the use of birth control and other contraceptives aren't 100%. I'm not saying you made a mistake or bad decision by any means. After all, we all have those primal urges where our bodies tell us to eat, sleep, and make babies. So it's only natural. But just remain conscious of your decisions and actions, as well as their potential results. Good luck.Comment
