My mom said the same thing to me. I didnt tell her though , and ended up getting caught. That was a lot more trouble than if I had told her. However , when she cooled off she just wanted to have me put on birthcontrol and get a pap smear. I would recommend that you inform yourself before you tell her . Make sure you know the risk of being sexual active , your birthcontrol options , a general idea of your options if the birthcontrol fails , and its also a good idea to have a talk with your partner about what limits you want and what you would do if you did get pregnant ... Having done this and showing you are taking this seriously and being responsible may make it easier for your mom to take. It did for mine.

Also , if she doesnt take it well , know that in time she will. I am not saying she will give you a lot of alone time with your partner or anything ... just that she will accept that you are human. Plus , if you are the eldest child ( I am ) ... she may be trying to figure out how to handle this situation just as much as you are .
