I quit masturbating with a vibrator a long time ago, men can't recreate a vibrating sensation that I am aware of so I found it best to not get my body use to needing that heavy of stimulation. I also began masturbating with minimal clitoral stimulation, just occasional brushes with my hand very similiar to the body contact it has during sex. Exploring having orgasms on your own this way may make it easier to do during sex.

If you find you need heavy clitoral stim and you want to have an orgasm while he is in you - rub yourself during sex , you can do so from almost any position. Also you could have him perform oral on you and stop him when you are close to orgasm and get him inside of you right away.

So, using a vibrator can make you feel numb to the sensations of a human hand? I read articles saying it's not true, but it has happened to me......I was so used to a vibrator where I couldn't feel much when a human hand touched me. It just didn't feel the same as a vibrator.

There has been research on vibrator use that has found it can affect your responsiveness. Like most things in life (even chocolate) moderation is the best idea.

In my personal experience, my vibe toy has definitely caused dependence and desensitization. Before it, I was multiorgasmic with penetration and pooh-poohed clitoral stimulation. After it, I was baffled as to why I wasn't having orgasms during sex (and of course blamed it on my partner :P Irrationality win.)
But you can "wean yourself" if you've found yourself desensitized by a toy. Just go without for a while, a week or a month or more. Your sensation should come back, as mine did. I still have the toy ... it's a "sometime" thing.
