Mens' inevitable attraction to younger girls?? (what do you think?)

The other day I had an interesting conversation with my bf, but I'd like some perspectives on it since I feel somewhat skeptical of the topic. After reading an article (and I really wish I could find the article so I could include a link in my post) which suggested that polygamy was beneficial for evolution, my bf concluded that for the best possible survival of a man (survival meaning that he can reproduce offspring) is to move from one young, fertile woman to the next--thus causing a form of polygamy to occur. This makes sense, seeing as men can produce sperm much longer than women are able to be fertile. He then concluded that middle-aged (middle-aged nowadays...not sure how to define their age in earlier years) men who found attraction to younger, more fertile girls had a higher survival rate (had higher chances of reproducing). Thus being the explanation as to why men now experience attraction to younger girls when they reach their 40s or 50s. His points and the study all makes sense to me, but is this really true? Do most married men really have to suppress these kinds of attractions as they get older?

Certainly I believe that those men that "want" children and haven't been married will not date someone their age or older, when they are in their 40's.

But, I also think that those whom have had the children, marriage before and are in their 40's are looking for a "partner", they have already grown, and often are looking more for intelligent conversations, lust, fun, laughter and prefer a more mature minded woman.

Therefore, i believe it to be more so in what a man is looking for in his life, at that time.

(So.... don't find that link and post it, we will have to edit it due to the fact we don't allow outbound links on this site)...

"Do most married men really have to suppress these kinds of attractions as they get older?"

As what might be considered a middle aged married man, I can say that sure, I notice and am 'attracted' to young women. That doesn't mean i have the slightest inclination to cheat on or leave my wife, I just notice them. By the way, I have always noticed attractive young women, and also appreciate attractive not-as-young women.

Do I suppress anything? Only sometimes when I find myself glancing at a girl and realizing that -wow- she is really young and find it inappropriate for me to even appreciate at a distance.

Anyway- there is a whole area of Evolutionary Biology and much of which is dicussed is controversial when it comes to mating habits.

Since this world is ruled by men it is easier for them to create theories and conclusions that would make their lives easier and pass them as 'standards'. Of course middle aged women find younger men 'attractive' as well, it's only reasonable. Women don't exist to just breed, cook and clean, they have urges too. To say it's only a 'male' thing, no, I don't agree with that. There used to be a time when people thought that it's only men who enjoyed or even wanted to have sex and that because women didn't have a say in anything.

I can see the evolutionary reason, and I don't disagree with it. BF and I have been talking about that, too. But we have come to a conclusion amidst those conversations. We are the highest form in the animal kingdom, that being said, we have the capacity to direct our minds and hearts unto what is rightful to do.

So, men who are in their prime, may really be looking and get attracted to younger women. But it all depends on their purpose, like CW said.

As a middle aged man I find many young women attractive - but I also find some older women attractive as well. In the case of young women it is a sort of "abstract" attraction: once I start talking to them, they generally seem too young and any sort of sexual interest fades. It is tempting to argue sexual behavior / desires as based on evolution but there are so many couter examples. A significant number of men prefer oral sex to intercourse. A significant number of men are gay. There are lots of people with fetishes. If it was all about reproduction, all men would prefer quick intercourse and nothing else. Some do, but certainly not all.

Good Points gentlemen. As a middle aged woman, I'd say pretty much the same thing. There are some good looking young men in the world - and some of them are very interested in older women. But the lack of maturity, life experience and a host of other factors, makes them pale next to a mature man who has taken care of himself. I'll take the middle aged man in my life over some youngster any day!

The reason I like schoolgirl roleplay is because it is the first fantasy that a boy had. Remember that our raging hormones started in our early teens. We had these little tight body women all over the place. They wore revealing clothes. The big problem is that most of us didn't get to fulfill those fantasies.

Also, let's look at instinct. Our bodies were made to have babies at the age of 14. For tens of thousands of years, human's lifespans were under 20 years. Up until this century, it was common to marry before you were 16. What we've done in the 20th/21st, is to change nature. The problem is that our raging hormones and instincts are telling us to go after the same girls.

Hmm...very interesting points. Thank you. Thank you to everyone. It's also comforting (and I hate to admit that) to hear from the guys that while these younger women seem attractive, the sexual interest is lost when you get to know them as they become too immature.

                    Something to add:

The porn all over the 'net is filled with young girls. You are considered a "MILF" in your mid 20s. If we are constantly bombarded with skinny, young, well-chested, ****ty girls all over the TV and 'Net, it is what we will want. We are stupid animals who are easily programmed.
