Quickly rub your hands together for a minute or two.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Wash your hands in really hot water. I do that in winter when my hands go numb from cold. i let them sit in the warm water

I was just reading an article by a woman I know who is a sex therapist and counselor. It was about gift giving and made so much sense.
Give them what they would want - not what You want them to have.
If they've been dropping hints about wanting a tool or a toy - ask which one, what brand, what features? Get them that and then something else, no matter how small, that shows you were really thinking of them.
Don't give them gifts that represent their 'role' ie a new mop and broom.
Don't give gifts that imply they should change, things like a gym membership are only good if they have been pining to have one.
How you package it is important, a beautifully wrapped or well presented gift has a higher excitement and anticipation level to it.
Once you give it, it is there, no following up asking or bugging them to use it

She says bad gifts have different effects on genders. Women tend to see a bad gift as a sign that the relationship needs strengthening, while when men don't like a gift they tend to, by extention, like their partner less.
