Here’s some back-story. I haven’t been able to (ever) insert a tampon. Any attempts to do so caused extraordinary pain. When I was twelve, I was brought to a doctor who assured me I could (IE, there was some break in my hymen), but, since I couldn’t, I never did.
Six months ago I was forced to get a pap smear, essentially because the doctors refused to believe I’ve never had sex. I had to get one so I could have a refill on my birth control, which I use for horrible cramps. They could not get an adult one in, and only managed a child’s one, which made me (embarrassingly) start crying on the table. It was sore for days.
I had symptoms of a yeast infection a few months ago, and felt around “up there” to see what was going on. While there, I found an irregular lump, which was the source of the sharp pain I became familiar with during my tampon attempts/pap smear. Touching it is the equivalent of pinching the out of your clitoris. Nothing else in the vagina hurts, and I have more than enough “room” for something to fit up there.
I know am of the belief it’s always been there… but hasn’t been noticed, because I never identified it as the place of pain. I showed it to a doctor (non gynecologist) here, who said, “I see what you are talking about, but I’m not sure that’s just not a deviation of common anatomy…” and suggested it “hurts because your yeast infection.” They put me on super strong pills, but the “infection” (the white stuff) never went away—I also don’t have itchiness/burning. So I don’t think the yeast infection, if it is one, is causing the pain.
She didn’t believe me when I said, “No, I had this problem/pain when I was 12.” She just kind of brushed it off. I went again today, and returned home crying. The doctor said, “I’m not sure what you want me to do, or what you came here expecting. We’ve done everything. I can refer you to a gynecologist, but it will take at least two months to get an appointment, and they might not be able to help, either.” I'm so frustrated about either not being believed, or being treated as a problem.
I’ve made an appointment, but really just need advice here. What is this thing? I’ve attached a photo. (It’s legal, I’m over 18, and it ONLY shows the bump, nothing else.) Does anyone else have this? This is far into the canal of the vagina, beside/above the cervix. I’m stretching it here—when I’m not, it’s more round. I can’t find anything online with a photo of the inner vagina canal.
If this IS normal, why does it hurt so much?
