Bacterial Vaganitis
I have been to the doctors about 4 times, had swabs done every time, all coming back saying I have bacterial Vaganitis. The medication never works and I'm back in, with the same problem. I've had a pap smear done and they said they'd call if there were any problems, and I didn't get any call. So WTF??? I have discarge that goes any where from white to yellowy-brownish. Slight irritation from soap sometimes, other than that and the pain during sex I wouldn't even know it there, no iching or anything. It's getting to be VERY frusterating, if it's bacterial baganitis why wont the medicine help, and if it's something else why can't the doctors find it??? Can anyone give some advice? Please help! -
Sometimes medicine actually makes things worse.
Every woman is different down there and there is no one cure-all situation unfortunately.
Some women have stopped using soap there at all and had success. I hear that the vagina is a self-cleaning part of our body and a little rub-down with water is all it really needs. It's all down to personal opinion and what you're willing to try. You've been to the doctor several times and obviously nothing serious is wrong. Do you have multiple partners? Have you changed to a new partner recently?
The pain during sex might even be un-related to the discharge. There are so many variables here.
Are you sure you still have BV and not a yeast infection? For BV they often prescribe antibiotics. For me, EVERY TIME I take an antibiotic I get a yeast infection from . It seems that the symptoms are similar. -
I always get yeast infections when on antibiotics too. Bacteria and yeast are always present down there. They have to stay in balance to keep things healthy. You can't completely wipe out one or the other so taking medication for one may cause problems with the other. You also need to keep enough "good" bacteria to crowd out the "bad" bacteria. Unfortunately antibiotics don't differentiate so you may wipe out an infection only to get it again since there is nothing there preventing it. Some people actually take plain unsweetened unflavored yogurt and use a tampon applicator to insert it into the vagina in order to repopulate the "good" bacteria. Some use diluted vinegar or apple cider vinegar as a more mild way to directly kill whatever is causing the symptoms. There are a ton of home remedies on the net. I haven't used too many since either prescription antibiotics or otc yeast treatments usually do the job so I can't tell you what works. Ingesting good bacteria through yogurt and acidophilus or similar pills sometimes helps too. I've been trying to eat plenty of greek yogurt everyday since I have problems both with getting infections easily and digestive tract disorders.
Your partner can also pass things back to you without showing any symptoms himself.Comment
