I saw the SAR article, I was trying to find a direct double blind placebo controlled food allergy related one. I personally kinda like MSM cause it is absolutely everywhere so why not use it IF it has testing to back it up. My concern is how long it can relatively prevent IgE and histamine concentrations from going up, and the actual mechanism if they can fully pinpoint it instead of saying saying "it contains sulfur" like so others many do lol. I am going to keep checking PubMed though. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

This isn't a seasonal thing though. Does that matter? I mean, I could move to Alaska and still have the problems...I've moved all over the US, they never really change. I'm reading about the MSM stuff.
So I gave my husband the list of foods I'd like him to avoid...
Nuts - all except hazelnut
Calamari
Tuna
Coffee
Blueberries
Grapes
Strawberries
Melons
Basically...he's very unhappy at the moment...I think slightly ****ed might be a good way to describe how he is acting. I feel horrid. Ugh. He always wants me to have more sex with him, and I'd like to...but seriously....I don't want to itch, I don't want to be coughing in the middle of sex and I want to enjoy it more. sighComment

It does matter. The severity of conditions is what differs. A stuffy nose in the spring due to all the grass mold is not going to be the same as you on the floor gasping for air because peanuts have hit your system. MSM keep in mind is not followed by the FDA, it is considered one of those "pseudomedicine" that does not have major research but doctors will sometimes still mention-they will ask about liver and kidney issues though. The actual immune system reaction is what you need to watch. You need to prevent the interaction. This isn't a seasonal thing though. Does that matter? We have been taking it for years- I take it for my joints. Seems to be effective for Nuts and Eggs.
The seasonal nature is not important.
You wont see to many full double blind studies because it cant be patented so the drug companies have no interest. What I find interesting is that the body naturally sends it the Mucus membranes- almost like it is the missing piece of a jigsaw that is supposed to be there.Comment

That is the problem though, "it worked for me" means nothing in research. Efficacy, and reliability does as well as the molecular research. That is what I am trying to find because it simply is a common substance to numerous daily things. What I find interesting is that the body naturally sends it the Mucus membranes- almost like it is the missing piece of a jigsaw that is supposed to be there.
No, that is the basic immune system. The mucus layers are covered immune cells and other receptors ready to mediate a response. They line the area because it comes into contact with the pathogens, or allergens, since they are a highly trafficked area for problems to occur. Same applies to respiratory tract and lymphatic system. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

Something that is interesting (being MCS I have a strong interest), research has found that there is a symbiotic relationship between some internal parasites and the human immune system. It seems that some parasites, in order to keep the immune system from attacking them, actually damp down the responses. There is some speculation that the hyperactive immunity (which is essentially what an allergy or hypersensitivity is) was a response of the body to compensate. This went on for so long that in at least a part of the human race that it became a genetic feature. Now that we are no longer likely to have these parasites to excrete whatever it was that dampened our response - we have hyper response to things we shouldn't.
Research moves slow but they are trying to isolate this. The lack of parasites may also account for some weight issues, as our bodies may have adapted to compensate for nutrient loss from the parasites. There may come a day that some of us find ourselves being innoculated with parasites for our health!Comment

My allergist originally wanted me on a special kind of shot that lowered the immune response. The problem with it was that each shot cost thousands of dollars and I'd be on it for at least a year, second it seriously increases the chance of tumors. Finally, I no longer have health insurance so I can't see my allergist for this. The issue is I'm not really for sure there IS a good fix other than just not eating nuts! Even people who take allergy meds like me can't eat peanuts still.
This is a weird battle. I guess I assumed that because my husband wants more sex he'd be willing to just give up some stuff...instead he's pouted around and is upset. He looked into the MSM and a few other things and then just moves on to being on Facebook or emailing others. He doesn't seem to want to accept this is a food allergy issue. Seriously, he wants to rub peanut butter on me to see if it causes a rash. He's trying everything he can think of to not give nuts up. Ugh.
He isn't the one covered in a rash after sex or even just making out. He isn't the one coughing and clearing his throat in the middle of sex. I don't get it. I really thought this would be an easy decision. I guess I can just keep begging him to stop eating those things or resort to no kissing at all...which would be pretty awful. lolComment

It is called normal flora of the human body. Humans are essentially just a traveling mechanism for parasites, viruses, bacteria, and fungus. There are more microorganisms in our body than we have cells. The symbiosis has and always will be present with many many different types of microorganisms.research has found that there is a symbiotic relationship between some internal parasites and the human immune system.
Organisms are crafty, especially viruses, in keeping well hidden and under the radar if they want to be. All microorganisms can possess methods that leave them undetected by our immune system. That list is long though. It seems that some parasites, in order to keep the immune system from attacking them, actually damp down the responses.
I absolutely hate genetics but I have to learn it in my immunology education, but to put it simply yes there is an evolution component to how responses occur. The evolution happens with the actual receptors that identify problematic organisms. Over time we have made new ways to identify the ever growing population of new infectious agents. The non-allergy but general hypersensitivity results because our immune system is just reacting the way it has been programmed to do. It sees something 'non-self' and gets all upset and sends out red flags even if technically there is no harm to the body, it still wants to rid of anything that poses the slightest of problems. In theory the lack of an organism for example would retain whatever receptor for example was produced against it and anytime something remotely resembles whatever that receptor looks for about the parasite would then react. However trying to pinpoint something like this is close to impossible.
There are already bacteria, Bacteroides thetaiontaomicron and Firmicutes sp., isolated in the guts of humans that have lead researchers to believe they play a role in weight gain. Those who are overweight were found to have less of a certain type of bacteria than those who are slim. As soon as those obese individuals lose weight the bacterial populations go back up. This implies there is a caloric relationship for how the bacteria digest foods. However the normal flora ideas are purely speculation as correlation does not imply causation. The lack of parasites may also account for some weight issues, as our bodies may have adapted to compensate for nutrient loss from the parasites. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

I have already recommended to other people and it has worked.
It is in heavy use in the Horse racing industry for equine joint issues and a lung problems in young horses.
It is harmless and cheap-my favourite criteria.
Also son who is on it has not had his winter pneumonia since he has been on it. And he always got it at least twice a year and no longer uses inhalers.Comment
