Should I get checked out by my doctor?

    I have a huge problem.
I am horny all the time. I mean ALL the time. Usually, it is always there, it just depends on how well I can push it to the back of my mind. My mind does not crave physical gratification, but my body almost always does, 24/7.
Normally, when a person is horny, they masturbate, correct? I've been trying that, with everything I can think of that won't cause any infections/problems, and I've been trying every possible way I and the internet can come up with.
I recently lost my virginity. That's when I figured out I can only orgasm and get any relief from being horny/wet ALL THE TIME is when I'm a) eaten out b) fingered or c) have sex. Now, as a single woman, it is understandable that I cannot have sex all the time, since I am not in a relationship, and I don't want a relationship solely for sex. It is bad enough that I've hooked up with a guy friend in order to get some temporary relief.
This problem isn't that big of a deal, except for the fact that it is almost impossible to concentrate sometimes, and sex is almost always in the back of my mind so that I can get some temporary relief. It's not that I want the sex- I want the ache and the pressure to go away, and the only way to do that is through some type of sexual activity.
I was thinking maybe I should talk to my gynecologist, and possibly see if my hormones were extremely out of whack? I also have mood swings when I should not, and my entire family (yes, my ENTIRE family) has hyperactive thyroid disease.
I'm not entirely sure how to go about fixing this. I can't go around sleeping with people to get rid of the distracting ache!
    Help please!

Are you on birth control? Many say that birth control hormones, such as from the pill, can lessen libido. Did you become horny all the time before your first time sex or after? Are you hornier now than you were before having sex? Having sex the first time is opening a new phase in a person's life and many times the person can become obsessive for a period of time. This is due to chemicals released in the brain during a sexual encounter. The urge to do it again and again will lessen with time if there is no repeating.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
    ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

I have often wondered if soy affects thyroid, maybe you should try to avoid this in what you eat.
