Is it still painful if he sticks to shallow penetration? Does it make a difference if there is extended foreplay? Are some positions worse than others?

Finally went to go see my OB/GYN only to be told "You're just sensitive"
I've had pain during intercourse ever since I first became sexually active. I just dealt with it and thought this is just me and there is nothing I can do about it. Now, 8 years later, I seem to have times where it is even more painful than usual and the pain will last up to an hour after sex.
So I decided to see a MD. I have my appointment and then she tells me there is nothing wrong and it's either my cervix moving down during ovulation or I'm just sensitive. I'm pretty crushed. I thought this time I could finally find out why I've had this and finally have good sex. Whatever that is! Since everyone is always gushing about sex and I just don't see why people like it so much. I guess I never will. Thanks doc!Comment

You would probably benefit from working out the source of the discomfort yourself.
Get your partner to use a finger to try to isolate which part is causing pain. The best position for this would be with your knees up.
The most likely candidates are lacerations caused by fungal infection or by a sensitive or mispositioned cervix. The cervix will feel like the tip of a nose with a depression in it.
You can work around most problems but you have to get a good fix on what the problem actually is.Comment

I had pain during sex for 5 years starting when I first became sexually active. I finally went to the doctor and ended up having Chronic Hymenitis. It essentially means that your hymen didn't break evenly. I had a very simple surgery that completely helped. Some of the major symptoms were pain during first penetration. My doctor also mentioned that UTI were also common though I didn't have an issue with it. I now don't have pain at all during sex.Comment

Apologies for the fact that the posts in this thread are all out of order.
Not sure why. Anywho, to the OP, there are bad doctors just like there are bad apples. Don't get discouraged. There IS a reason for the pain and it's NOT that you're just sensitive. There are some amazing doctors out there, but there are some that aren't worth their weight in salt.
Ask around in your area...most women can tell you a doctor they are really loyal to. Be frank, don't minimize the pain in any way.
You can get this figured out. And by all means hun, never suffer through something for 8 years without getting it checked out!Comment

I also have a tilted uterus and it hurts on some positions. OP, Find another doctor do not give up looking for answers/solution. Has your previous doc ever done intra-vaginal ultrasound to find out what's wrong inside? what procedures did they do - please do tell us (or did I miss it?). Meanwhile, experiment on the positions that feel okay, the depth and speed of thrusting, lubricate more, eat yogurt and probiotics.Comment
