Libido Decrease Causing Relationship Strain - Advice Welcome

I am a 20 year old female with almost no libido.

I suppose I'll back up. As a teenager (or as young as 12), I had a very healthy libido. I became sexually active at age 18, with my first and only partner, whom I am still in a serious relationship with.

I went on birth control a few months into our relationship (Nuvaring) and have been on it since. I don't believe it to have caused my drop in libido since I was on it for nearly a year when suddenly, out of no where I my libido dropped to zero.

I talked to my doctor who claimed it was a result of my relationship progressing from the fun, new butterflies to a more serious type of relationship. She suggested we take more time and try new things. She also mentioned a healthier exercise and diet should help.

Well I've tried all those things with mixed success. Generally, I've been able to get in the mood and even orgasm but it usually requires a lot of time and effort (sometimes hours of foreplay). I've been unable achieve orgasm from masturbation for over a year now.

My boyfriend has been wonderful throughout all this. But it's still causing a strain on the relationship.

I'm wondering if I should go see a therapist or my medical doctor or simply try something new. I suppose I'm just looking for someone who has had a similar problem and who has (hopefully) overcome it. I know it's not exactly uncommon for women to have lower libidos, but it definitely appears to me that mine is exceptionally low, especially given my age.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Sometimes what happens is that you lose the sexual attraction you had to you BF...do you think about sex? do you fantasy about other men?.......don't get discourage you are young and probably your libido will be back, in the mean time, buy toys, watch porn (if it gets you going) and just relax......it is difficult to lose that...after all make you feel alive....but it is important that you give yourself a break...the more you think about the more you'll obsessed about it....don't know, maybe has to do with too much sex?, at that age, I was having sex only once a week...and we did it like 6 times in a row that day......is all about how much the other turn you on.........any husband you pick in life, you must really feel sexual attraction or you are doomed to fail....

      Google nuvaring side effects

Someone posted this on another site.
      -------------------------------
ive been using nuva ring for a few months and have started to question it as have no sex drive, super lethargic an anxcious. I never thought about hair loss but have noticed that when i have been brushing my handfuls have been coming out so i guess ill add that to my complaints to!! Sure not using it no more!!

      -------------------------------------

Might pay to start thinking about trying an alternative for a while.- Just to test.

      Good luck
