Everything everyone here has said about BC makes perfect sense!

Birth control will usually lower the sex drive of a woman or mess with her moods. I remember starting BC and becoming too moody to even want to be around my partner sometimes. I also had a lower sex drive and sex wasn't as spontaneous and fun anymore.

I think that for you two, open communication should be a must. As lanabear said, even once every other week is kind of infrequent for a childless couple to be having intercourse... especially if you have a naturally high libido, I'm sure it is frustrating for you. Maybe you can discuss non-threateningly what you two can do to improve things and improve things on her side. Like, talk about if she is taking BC and its effects, if she is having more anxiety/depression, etc. etc. Stress, anxiety and depression can also lower one's interest in sex. And I'm sure your wife would appreciate it if you reached out to her in a compassionate way to talk about what might be going on for her. What you don't want to happen obviously is pressuring her to improve quickly for the sake of your sex drive. It's important that you two try to connect about this since it might have an easier solution than you imagine.
