Both me and my boyfriend are 18 and have quite an active sex life. We live in different towns, but not too far from each other, he stays over on the weekends and we usually see each other once or twice in the week.
This has never really been a problem for us but I'm thinking it's becoming more of a problem now. I live at home with my mum and my bedroom situation is a little awkward. It's incredibly small, has a double futon (sofa bed, floor bed, whatever) which is my bed, and I have no door, but I have a curtain where the door should be. Luckily, the bed doesn't make a noise but sometimes the floor does which concerns me as I've noticed it more lately. The past few times we've had sex we've been alone and not hesitated to make noise because quite frankly, I think we both find it more fun and better when we are making a noise. The problem now is, my mum is home more often when my boyfriend is round, she does give us privacy by not coming upstairs as much but we feel like we can't make any or as much noise during sex therefore we aren't enjoying it as much. This is also a problem as my room gets extremely hot in the summer, and my window is always wide open, and a lot of the neighbors are in their gardens.

Basically, I'm asking, who else does or has found it difficult to have good or great sex when your parents or other people are in the house? And how have you worked around it?

All I can say is it's the same as when you have children - you find the times when they aren't awake.

If your mother knows you're having sex, which it sounds as if she does, first thing is to let her know when you're hoping to have some private time with your boyfriend. Ideally she'll arrange to have to go to the store or something during the time you're planning on sex.

Another thing you can do is play some music on the loud side.

Finally, you can always moan/scream into a pillow.

My boyfriend and I are in the same situation. We always have to have sex at his house because my dad works from home and mom stays at home. His parents are at work but get home about an hour after we get at it. So it's usually quiet sex. We still enjoy it though because we just look at each others facial expressions and know what the other is liking and when it gets really good you can scream into a pillow
