So yesterday was my husband's 43rd Birthday. I like to make the sex a little special for his Birthday. I did this one time about 6/7 years ago and now he requests it every year. It's this thing where he likes me to make him a nice Birthday dinner, dress in a certain way and give him oral under the table while he enjoys his meal, and to draw it out long enough so that he doesn't finish until he's done eating. (I'm sure it's not all that uncommon, lol). Anyway, he gets plenty of normal bj's but these are reserved for special occasions like Birthdays and Anniversaries. I think he likes something different to look forward to. For me, a nice long foot massage will do it.

Does anyone do anything "special" for your partners for their Birthdays? Do you think it's lame to save something they really like as a special treat a few times a year, or does the rarity make it more exciting? I mean I guess I would like a foot rub every day, but then what would I have to look forward to on my Birthday?

If its obligatory Birthday sex, it's not cool. The last couple years of my marriage, there was hardly any sex except on Valentines Day, Birthday, etc. I was just happy to get what I could, but I knew she wasn't into it and that wasn't a good feeling. Looks like your situation is a lot different. I'd have no problem waiting for something special on special occasions if she's into it like that.

We just turn it into; whatever it is that you want throughout the whole thing. If it's his birthday; I center our loving making around him. He does the same for me on mine.

Its not lame to do something special on special days. We go away on little weekend trips on special occasions. It's funny because we always end up having bathtub sex when we go away. We only have a shower in our apartment, so filling a nice big tub is a luxury. That's become our special Birthday Anniversary treat.

I try to do something special for my wife on her birthday - long backrub / massage generally followed by her favorite sex positions - but we do that pretty often anyway since I like it a lot too. There really isn't anything that she likes that I don't like doing, so no reason to only do it on birthdays.

She has gotten into the habit of giving me a BJ on my birthday. Its something that unfortunately she really doesn't like, and that I really enjoy so she has decided to make it a special treat. Normally I wouldn't let her do something she doesn't like, but I've decide that a once-a-year gift is OK, since I always do what she likes.

We take so many romantic trips together that there isn't really anything more we can think of in that direction for birthdays. How do you top a trip to Venice spending days wandering around the city, fantastic food, and then evenings in a 500 year old hotel on the banks of the grand canal?

I don't think you should save it up for special events... but I definitely make sure to put a little extra in on special occasions
