Does anyone that watched a lot of porn in their late teens feel it has effected them in adulthood?

I will start the discussion. As a teenager I can remember there was porn movies playing from the satellite, before internet and before video rental stores, every weekend in my home. It was no big deal. However, I thought I was supposed to do what the women in the porn films did. Even though I had older sisters; they nor my mother never did talk about sex. I learned from porn. After a heart-breaking lose of my virginity I decided as a young adult, twenty years old, just to have sex for the fun of it, no emotional attachment. I would do my dates just like the women in the porn films were doing. A guy could always expect a blowjob even if we didn't have sex for whatever reason. I was very popular in my small community and had guys calling wanting to date me all the time. It got to the point that I was drinking a lot and using a lot of pot to "get myself" in the mood for a date. Like the way some porn stars need a little something to get themselves reading for a shoot. I was almost off the deep end until you I met the guy that is now my husband. I felt kinda strange after our first date. He just kissed me good night and ask if he could see me again. We didn't have sex until our fourth date; a record for me. When we actual did have sex, I was sober and really wanted to instead of feeling like I had to. Thankfully he showed me that "real life" and "real love" is not like porn. I hate to imagine where I would have been if I hadn't met him.

I will confess to watching a fair amount of porn during my 20's..... I was 18? at a friends house and he had a couple of old porn videos... and that was the first time I'd ever seen one.... I started renting them out occasionally and even with my first GF we would watch one occasionally... she likes the ones with a good story / plot, whereas I just liked the 'sex' and watching the mans ejaculation.

Then after we split up I kept on watching videos and my local video store had $1 movie hire for a week, so I used to get 3 out a week until I had seen them all – they were the old 1980 early 90’s ones that had all the same actors in like Peter North, Randy West, Mike Horner, Ron Jeremy…etc… I did develop a bit of a crush on Christy Canyon though!

Then when the internet came along that changed everything…. Luckily I met my wife in January 1999 and we’ve been together ever since 
I occasionally look up porn now and then for fun….. I like watching cumpilations and old 1970/1980 ‘retro / vintage’ clips – where woman weren’t afraid to have a bit of hair down below and the sex looks more ‘natural’ – these days it seems all scripted and almost all the guys finish off over the womans face.

It hasn’t affected me in any way and I’d much rather make love to my wife than look up porn on the computer

Watching porn has not affected me at all when I watch at a early age. Me and my wife watch it together mostly amateur stuff we can relate to it more. But like anything like smoking or drinking or drugs you can get addicted to it. But then you just like anything you are letting something take over your life and there no reason for you to allow that to happen with porn.

I have watched lots of porn when younger and now. It hasn't affected me or my sex life.

JillJames, I really liked the ending of your story. Your experiences that led up to the happy ending sounded traumatic though. I would say that porn confused me about women when I was watched it at a very young age online.

I don't watch much porn now, but if I do I prefer the homemade stuff. I actually hate the mainstream stuff.
