paralysis, numbness after sex. A bad sign?

    Hi,

This is kind of hard for me to share, but Im glad Ive found this site to do it.

After having sex (admittedly have only had it a few times) I lose feeling in my hands and face, my fingers become clawed and I cannot move them. I find it difficult to move. I have also had this whilst in a sauna and had to be dragged out. I have never orgasmed with a guy, and Ive heard something like you can get weak and dizzy after sex, but this is ridiculous. It is terrifying, embarassing and uncomfortable.

Has anyone heard of this before? Is there something very wrong with me?

I don't feel I can talk about this with a doctor, especially since I find it very difficult to discuss anything with a doctor.

Thanks for reading this and i hope you can help

almost sounds like your having panic attacks. i know when i had one i would hyper-ventilate and my fingers and lips would go numb and tingly. like they were asleep. to help remedy this i would breathe into a paper bag and also try to slow my breathing down. i don't think it's really just the sex persay. definatly sounds anxiety related to me.

This is serious! You NEED to talk to a doctor about it. Does it ever happen when you're exercising?
You might have a heart condition or something equally serious. It sounds like it's related to physical strain on your body (sex is a workout,) sweat, or just rising body temperature in general.
(Remember, though, I'm not a doctor. You should see somebody with an M.D. to properly diagnose this. Who knows, it could be something with a VERY simple cure!)

Do you feel nervous having sex with your partner?

Sounds like anxiety related symptoms. If there is a history of anxiety and depression in your family, it could be the culprit.

Try to relax and talk to your partner about it.

Things can be embarrassing at times but this is something that you don't need to just let go. Make you an appointment with your doctor and have it checked out. Don't let this go on unchecked, as Little stated this could be something serious. I would much rather go to the doctor and be a little embarrassed and it be nothing more than possibly panic/anxiety attacks than not to go and risk my health and/or life.
There is a method to my madness ........ I just haven't found it yet.

Thanks for the replies. I'm well and truely scared now!

I do have problems with anxiety, depression, dissociation and panic attacks, but it feels much worse than my usual panic attacks. But maybe it is just this and just worse because I am nervous.

I think I'll try to bring it up next time I see a Dr, excluding the sex part. Thanks

Don't worry about embarrassment, doctors have heard and seen everything. This may be a panic attack, or may be very serious - absolutely no way we can tell from the description.

Please don't exclude anything when you go in. The more the doc knows the better they can help you. It's nothing to feel embarrassed about. Everyone has sex, it's natural. Your dr. is not going to judge you.

Actually, I've had doctors judge me on the basis of sex.
So, don't go to an office/clinic/hospital with a religious denomination in its name. That is where I've had my problems with doctors. Good luck
