Sex With Hpv In A Relationship

    Hi All,

I Am 24 Years Old And Recently Discovered I Am Hpv Positive.
I Have Been With The Same Man For 7 Years. Doctor Said I Could Have Gotten It Years Ago, But It Only Now Appeared On My Pap.
My Question Is, If I Am In A Monogomous Relationship, Do We Still Have To Use Condoms. We Both Obviously Have The Same Strain, But I Feel Like I Should'nt Have To Use Condoms Because Of Our Long Standing Relationship (and I Don't Want To). I Am Waiting On Test Results From My Second Cervical Biopsy, So I Don't Know If I Will Need Cells Removed Or Anything At All. My Doctor Will Probably Also Talk To Me About This Situation.
We Plan On Getting Married And Having Children Eventually So, I Don't Feel Right Having To Use Condoms With The Man I've Loved And Been With For So Long.
If There Are Any Women Who Are Married Or In A Stable Relationship And Have Had A Similar Situation, Please Give Me Any Feedback.
    Thanks

Remember, condoms also prevent pregnancy - so if you don't want kids now and aren't using any other form of birth control, you should be using them.

If you are on birth control and are worried about the disease factor, well - that's what condoms are for. Is it possible he has gotten something from someone else and passed it on to you? Either way, this is definitely a conversation for your doctor - and I recommend your BF be there.

Hi! well I have HPV also.. and Ive read alot about it and the doctors have told me alot. And from I understand a condom isnt going to help.. they say any gential contact you will get it. I guess you dont even have to have sex to get it. And if yall have been together that long then i wouldnt see that it would matter.

        Hi,

Thanks for the input. I appreciate all the info I can get.
I actually saw my doctor yesterday and he said the same thing, since i am in a stable, long-term relationship, condom use wasent neccessary.
        Thanks alot. Take care.

I have HPV as well and i am in a realtionship we do not use condoms and i have not had an outbreak in a year and half. Me and My boyfriend have been togeather for 3 years. we have not had any problems. I have also heard that you can get HPV from alot of places not just sexually. my doctor had to tell me that casue i wanted to go kill my boyfriend i thought that he had done this to me.

the choice is up to you and you boyfriend talk to him and if he feels the same way you do then go for it, and kelli jo is right condoms will not prevent them cause if where they are any skin contact with them will likly spread them. and having the cell removed is not so bad i have to have it done. what happened with me is i had some froze off nad cell removed from my cervic and then the last out break i had went away before my doctors appt and she said that my bodies defense system must have kicked in and beat it. but just because you do not have an outbreak for along time does not mean it is gone. if you plan on having children and you go to another doctor tell them that you have HPV cause if you have an outbreak while you are preganat and not 100% sure i have read stories about women with warts giving them to the child. just be vary careful. Good Luck.

            To: Kiwi

            Hi Kiwi,

First Off, I Would Like To Thank You For Sharing Your Story. I Have Been All Over This Site Looking For Answers. I Am Always Scared When I Go To The Gyno, But I Realize That If I Keep Having My Regular Paps Then, In The Worst Case Senario, They Find Pre-cancerous Cells, Then At Least I Can Get Them Removed As You Did. Thanks Again. Your Input Helps More Than You Know.
            Take Care.
