    Horrible pain during sex?

    Have questions about water-based lubes?

    We have more answers!

Read our full article, “The 5 Best Water-Based Lubes On The Market” here:

To start with some background information: I lost my virginity at 17 and only had pain the first two or three times having sex and every other time was perfectly fine. After that relationship ended I didn't have sex for 3 years until I got into a new relationship, my current relationship. I am now 21 years old. We tried to have sex and of course it was painful seeing as I didn't have sex for three years and this new partner was larger than the previous. After a few more times of painful sex I went to my gyno who a swab and found a slight yeast infection but got rid of it and the pain continued. I was worried about endometriosis because it runs in my family so I had my first PAP test done and it came back completely clear. Though while the PAP was being done I felt some of the pain I felt during sex just less of it. The doctor recommended lube so we tried a couple different kinds which just seemed to make things sticky and more painful.

The pain I feel is mostly during insertion which I would describe as a strong burning and friction feeling. Sometimes I feel his penis catch on something, or maybe almost fall out I don't know. He can't go deep at all because I feel a sharp deep pain. One time he mistakenly went too deep and I felt a horrible sharp pain which I'm guessing is him hitting my cervix?

Also, when he "finishes" I can't feel it, whereas I used to be able to with my first partner. Sometimes afterwards I bleed and most of the time I feel a burning around and inside the opening of my vagina.

I just don't understand why I can't have sex without pain anymore and would like some opinions? Also, sometimes it doesn't hurt as much as it usually does. And we also found that if I orgasm and he keeps going it hurts much much more.

Sorry this was so long. Thanks for any possible answers

Did you speak again with your gyno? after her suggesting the lube didn't help? What you describe does sound like a lack of lubricant, so if that didn't improve the situation, speak to her/him again and advise that added lubricant didn't help.
Are your natural lubricants flowing normally also?
Is it the same in any position you try?

The other part of your pain when he goes too deep, does sound like he's bumping your cervix.

I haven't talked with my gyno since because I went for three different appointments and had a different doctor each time and they all just suggested the lube. I believe it might actually be the lack of lubrication, but the lubes i've tried have all felt sticky and make me more uncomfortable.
As for my natural lubricants, sometimes they are flowing normally but other times not. I'm assuming it's due to the birth control shot I'm on.
The pain is a little bit less when I'm on top, still hurts a lot upon insertion.
And thanks for the assurance about the cervix part, and thanks for your answer (:

I hate artificial lubes too. have you stuck with water based ones?
I think maybe addressing your own natural lubricant is the answer then. Are you becoming very aroused prior to attempting penetration? Would you consider a different birth control altogether or a less hormonal birth control?

I think all of the ones I've tried have been water based, one was a gel and one was sort of liquid/grainy? I'm thinking a water based completely liquid one would be best to try?
Most of the time I'm pretty aroused, but sometimes things get rushed so we could take some more time there. And the shot is probably the best option for me because I'm on headache medicine that prevents me from being able to take the pill and the iud and implant aren't options with my insurance.
It does sound like it's just mostly dryness, I just wanted another person's opinion so I could stop freaking myself out lol
