Lots of people tell me they met through dating sites. I wonder why whenever I tried a dating site I met a bunch of creeps, wayy older guys, or those just looking for booty calls. Nothing ever developed from anyone I've talked to on a site.

I know they always say stop looking & it will find you, which from previous relationships was true for me. But it's hard to stop looking now that I've been single for 3 years!!! AHHHH

I don't know much about dating sites, but maybe how you present your information makes a big difference on the sort of people who contact you. I wonder if intentionally downplaying your appearance for example would reduce the number of shallow people who respond (let them be happily surprised when they see you).

I think you are right, rcoreyus. In some sites, you can filter the ones that can contact you. You can set your "search" settings, and just choose professionals for that matter. Based on experience, I just posted just because...I was just responding to my friend's dare. I didn't want to date and see someone from the site, so I didn't post any picture. I just took a personality type survey, had my profile (personal info) set there, and that was it. But I did emphasize that I am a Grad student.

Luck struck once though. The very first email I got came from an Engineer and he asked a simple question and it came to me as very intellectual. So I emailed back, and didn't bother with the rest, nor the site again. And I am glad he's not shallow.

He said, he was really looking for "new comers" in the site, and wants to be the first to "fish". He achieved his goal.

Try some decent sites, but be careful about how you describe yourself. The Martians might interpret your Venusian language differently.

And also, consider proximity. It is hard to nourish a beginning friendship long distance, though it is not impossible. Good luck.

I think the right guy finds you not the other way around. I went several years between serious relationships and all the casual stuff where I was the pursuer never came to anything but when I decided to just chill, I met the greatest guy, turned him down 2 times and then finally went out with him for fun and it has been amazing.
Be yourself and just have fun. the right guy will find you

I really think dancing is the way to go to meet nice, decent people, and get excercise while you're at it. If you can afford to get involved with a studio, most have practice parties every week for all the students. If not, get involved in a local dance society that usually offers all kinds of group classes and events for pretty cheap.

The best advice I can give from guy suggestions given to me is this

Do the things you love and want to try - make yourself happy first. Because when your happy and when others can tell your happy it is a big turn on to guys - it attracts them.

I totally agree with this 100%.

I have the same problem,.. most of my friends all have bf I work in a female orientated job, so no guys work in the shop.. So thats hard listening to all of them talk about their bfs husbands etc,,.. I have been single for arond 2 years, I have a couple of guys that annoy the (edit) out of me constantly messaging me im not intrested in them at anyway i just see them as friends.. the guy i like has no intrest in me whatsoever..
                      anyway my point is....
i spoke to one of my friends the other day.. and I asked why cant i find a decent bloke..
He said "theres plenty around but with your personailty you can scare blokes off.. your pretty, your fun and your a nice girl but beucase you are confident, guys are scared to come up to you and get turned down thinking that they are not good enough or you already have a boyfriend"

Now I dont know wether or not he was brown nosing.. but my work colleuges have said the same kinda thing about me.. I am a loud one who loves going out having fun im not a quiet person even sober i am kinda loud...
idk.. I belive in fate so it will happen..
