He's proposing soon and I'm so anxious!!!

My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married for a few years now, but have put it on the back burner because he started a new job, I was finishing college, and we moved to a new state. We've been together for almost 6 1/2 years and have lived together for 3 years. We're also both in a place in our lives where we're ready for the next step (I'm 24, he's 26 and we're both working professionals and pursuing our graduate degrees) and he's been openly telling me that he's planning on proposing to me wants to get married soon. I'm extremely happy and giddy, but I can't stop asking him questions and feeling so anxious over it. I know he's going to propose very, very soon, but I just don't know exactly when or how. I don't want to nag and bombard him with questions, but it's all that I think about it! Maybe it's because I've been waiting for it for so long and have been so patient (well, most of the time haha). How can I settle down and just let him do it? We've talked about a few things we want to do when we have a wedding, but I haven't started officially planning anything. I want him to feel relaxed and not ruin the moment for him because I sometimes keep asking him about it and want to know everything that's going on. Are these feelings normal or am I just crazy?! lol

You are feeling all that is is - being a woman! Congratulations!

Stop asking him so many questions, just let him be and wait for him to do the move. Never ever prsessure him, he might end up resenting later. Life should go on as normal for you no matter how giddy you can be. Trust me on this - it's difficult to control. Join some circuit training/aerobics/yoga or dancing class to stay fit - fit in that dress! lol! Make sure you keep yourself busy and enjoy your singlehood while you can.

Thanks, caterpillar! I'm glad to know I'm not going completely crazy haha. I'm actually a runner and run almost daily, so that's been helping me control my giddiness and excitement. I've lost 15lbs. since November so I definitely am ready to go try on dresses! I am trying hard to not mention anything about the proposal/ring/wedding. Hopefully I'll be back to share some good news soon!! =)

Great! You should share us your choices, too. LOL.

Going off tangent here, but I am curious how you do it. I cannot run for long periods. I am a beginner when it comes to running and I am wondering how you guys do it. Really! Just a few .X miles, I get so exhausted.

          I would love to =).

No one (well, at least me anyway) ever starts out being able to run for long periods of time or distances. When I first started I couldn't run that far or fast, but I just kept at it and have gotten a lot better! I'm not a very fast runner, but I can go for long distances. I just had to build up enough stamina as well as workout to keep myself in shape. Seeing results both in appearance and ability to run more is also a huge motivator to keep up with it!

            haha.

            WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let him propose to you first Feel that excitement...You've jumped already to the wedding lol's.

Then you can decide firstly when the wedding will be, where, how, why oh no, sorry you know why

There's nothing wrong in the meantime, growing your hair, running, do any thing that you would do, knowing that your wedding is approaching.

But, let that proposal be magical... special.. like it should be, then do your "what a feeling" dance, and ask away

Don't worry ladies- any 'planning' I've done or thought about has been kept on DL and I'm waiting until he proposes. It is exciting to start thinking about, though!! =) I'm sure I'll be back on here for lots of questions, comments, and suggestions. I have no real idea when, where, or how, but I'm sure everything will work itself out nicely.

                  HAHA! This is so exciting!

I was totally caught off gaurd when we got engaged - he proposed to me at a bar where we met (so lame, I know) - I wasn't planning on going out at all that night and looked like **** (bad day at work) after several calls from friends who were there I went.

He asked me.... I'm not even kidding - not one of my proudest nor gracious moments, I looked at the ring (which he tried to put on the wrong hand, god bless him) and ran to the restaurant around the corner where my friend worked without even saying YES!

Moral: It doesn't have to be over thought or perfect. However it happens it will be one of the days that you'll always remember - even if it doesn't paint you in the best light!

I hope I'm surprised like that! I know it will come out of nowhere because my boyfriend is extremely sneaky. That's so funny that you went running to tell your friend without even saying 'yes'. Haha! I completely agree with you about proposals not having to be over thought or perfect and have always thought over-the-top proposals were really corny. Maybe it's because I'm a simple girl who always appreciates the thought behind things...
