Anyway, I gatta go with what Hopeless Dork was trying to explain. While I think she made it pretty black and white I think there are a lot of things people will do, not quite as directly as cheating, to push a partner away. Could just be not helping out around the house, being more irritable, starting arguments, losing intimacy and so forth.

I'm sure there are guys that have had a string of bad luck, so my suggestion is to instead of jump at your usual choice in a female, pick something totally different. My boyfriend reminds me all the time that I am completely different than any of his ex's, and that he'd gone out of his norm in dating me. His family loves me and they tell me they've never seen him happier.

K.. Movies, shows are "acting" correct? So, you see the Woman "getting it, seeing it, the affair, the abuse, the loveless marriage, whatever... But, the man sees same, that being "loveless marriage".. But, whom is to fault, him? Both? You say..... "are men more clingy""... If the woman leaves and that's your stats, then what does that say? The Man is...

I believe that there is someone for everyone. Some poeple go there whole life and never find that person. Some find that person and spend there whole life together with that person. I found that person and i treat her like a angel. If you do this you will be loved the same. Work together through life and it will be a happy life.

I notice a pattern in FoxMulder's threads (no offense, but I just do).

Anyway, to answer directly to the question, no, I don't think men love more than women or women love more than men. And I don't find movies or anything shown on TV a valid statistic as to women being the ones filing for divorce/breaking up the most.

By what I've seen in real-life couples, I can also say that most men who want to break up do so because their SO has cheated on them, more than for any other reason, and still, many of them stay because they have a home, a family, children, comfort. Men tend to make it seem as if it is more simple than it actually is, but they bottle up their problems and want to stay in the relationship regardless of them.

Women usually tend to feel trapped when they want to break up, or they're being abused, or mistreated, or fall out of love with their SO, and don't feel it's worth staying in such a relationship when they are financially independent and know they can find another man. Generally, it's easier for a woman to get the man she wants than for a man to get the woman he wants. It's considered sexy for a woman to play the attractiveness card to get the man she wants, but men are considered 'senseless pigs' when they play the same card.

So, in a way, and in theory, men know that if they break up they have a long way to go before they can get into another serious relationship, but women know they have more chances so it's not all that bad to break up if they feel unhappy. Maybe that is why it's easier for men to break up after they have already found somebody new, because they can go directly from one "safe place" to another. I don't know, just thinking out loud. I haven't slept much today....

With that said, not everyone is the same, either man or woman. But considering how unequal still things are between men and women (e.g. women still have to cook, clean, take care of everyone in the household and have a job in addition to all that) it would not surprise me if your statistics about women filing for divorce more than men are true.

Well I'll agree with the working together... But treating someone like "an angel" or being caring, loving, passionate, or anything else doesn't necessarily get you loved or cared about.

Lol, humm, no? How is a guy a senseless pig if he dresses nice, goes out of his way to be pleasant and polite? The sexy card is more than just appearance, dressing nice, being shaved, make up and so forth, it's an entire attitude. It's not even a sexual attitude is the funny thing, it's a sweet, pleasant, curiosity to learn more and just being out going in general.

I also am confused as to why you think women have more chances than men. Generally, most women use methods to draw men in, all the man has to do is take the chance, more often than not women aren't going to say "Eww, gross, get away from me." lol If we're talking about a dating situation anyway.

No guy will ever be a senseless pig if he uses the attractiveness card on me. Remember confidence is uber, uber sexy

Maybe it's because men always screw up lol. Push women away.

What I'm saying is, picture the following:

There's a man having a drink by himself somewhere (setting irrelevant), he is single and he has no plans about dating. He just wants to have a drink by himself. Then a woman wearing a revealing dress appears, has a lot of attractive make up on, she is single but is fed up with that and is at the same place looking for a potential partner (not a one night stand, we can assume that she knows this man from work). She looks at him, she likes him, so she goes over to him being flirty, sexy and so on.

Many men would play along with this because

                    1: it boosts their ego
2: they cannot possibly turn down an attractive woman (be it because "what the other men will think?" or "I am not gay, so I'm supposed to play along"
3: they could also be interested.

Imagine the same setting with the woman being the one sitting quietly and having a drink. If a man, wearing special clothes, trying to look fancy, would walk up to her he could be seen as

                    1: desperate
2: only after sex and in this case the woman might think

1: I'm not going to play the easy one on him, just because he walked up to me, he's freshly shaved and wears a shirt.
2: he is indeed desperate for getting into such an effort to look sexy.
3: I'm interested but he might find me more interesting if I turn him down.
4: he might just want me for sex.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is easier for women to get what they want, when it comes to dating, than men, because the 'weapons' women use are more obvious. Men have to be smart, tactful, sexy, say the right words. Women have to wear the right clothes and say the right sexy lines. I'm not saying this is always the case, but if you take a look around you will see what I mean.

                    Who gets the most dates?

                    - A man who wears a red, open shirt, with a lot of perfume, talks about sex all the time and how good he is in bed?

                    or

                    - A man who will hold a conversation, look as if he means what he says, says the right words, doesn't talk about sex too much unless he's confident that the woman would like it as much?

                    And as for women:

                    - Is it the one who dresses in revealing clothing, wears the right make-up, knows how to play with sex lines, smiles a lot and is very pleasant (even to an extreme point).

                    or

                    - The one in casual clothes, with no make up on, who would rather have a normal discussion instead of gossip, who doesn't laugh at everything the guy says, who doesn't want to have sex on the first date?

This is what I'm talking about. What men and women want is different and the game that is played is different. However, I do believe that men have a more difficult job to do than women. Without even adding income and job to the picture, which most women pay attention to these days. I know many women who would not consider dating an unemployed man, or a man without a car and so on. Yet, if a woman is unemployed or does not have a driver's license matters not to most men.

I'm not saying it's the right way to go, but what I see happening around us.

In other words all the man needs to do is to initiate contact and do all the work. Women do have it easier in pretty much every aspect of dating, there will always be men trying to pick you up, you don't have to take any initiatives, you don't have to be worried about rejection.
