    Business or pleasure.....or both?

    Hey Ladies!

So it's been awhile since I've been on here....but new drama needs new advice. Okay, so it's not really drama, I'm just not that bright when it comes to this kind of stuff....so here goes my story:

I met this man, Jay, who works at the gym I go to. Everytime I go in we always chat each other up about and joke around. So he mentioned in one of our conversations that he owns his own landscaping company and I commented back that I wish I had some lawn maintenance skills, because really it's just not my thing. So he volunteered to come and take a look at my lawn and "take good care" of me....huh? So anyways, he asked for my phone numbers (and gave me his number) and said he would stop by on Sunday. So Sunday rolls around and I didn't hear from him so I called him and he was said he had to stay late working at gym but we could set up for Monday. So I told him 11am was fine, and he said he would call before he made his way over. He called at 10:00 am and said he got called in early to work at the gym, and because work has been a bit slow with landscaping he should probably go in, but he could stop by after 730 pm or Tuesday morning at 11 am. I said Tuesday morning would work better for me and then he said that would be good because his partner would be back from vacation so they would both come by.

Man...what the heck? I was hoping for some one on one outside the gym.....how can I make this happen or is this really strictly a business thing for him?

P.S. The conversations are usually about our families, work, how the workouts are going, what the plans are for the weekend, etc. And normally our conversations are about 10-20 minutes long...yes, yes I do get my workouts in! LOL...

You mention your convo's are mostly about your families are either of you attached? If he is, I'd guess maybe he's gotten cold feet. Maybe he wanted to persue just to see if he still had it, and when he realized he did didn't want it to go further. Some men like the fantasy of having an affair but they really don't want to follow through.

If neither of you are attached, perhaps he really did just get busy and luck isn't going his way for making time to meet you. Maybe he wanted more and thinks you are all about the lawn and not him, so isn't rushing it. Perhaps he thought he could just woo your number out of you with the lawn promises, but when you actually wanted lawn work he realized that he didn't want to work on your lawn to get a date?

If he doesn't show Tuesday, don't bother calling him. Wait til you run into at the gym and don't be angry with him... just laugh it off and say something like is my yard really that bad? Did you drive up and see it and run away screaming? Make it fun and light if he and you both are single and maybe you two can connect in some other way, coffee, movie etc... that doesn't involve him providing a service?
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

I am unattached....and I'm pretty sure he is to, although I haven't officially confirmed that. I would love if we could just hang out and catch a movie or something, guess I was trying to do it in a roundabout way and get him to ask me.

I was planning on mentioning something about that part of it when he came about the lawn, but seeing as he's bringing his business partner with him I don't think that would be the best time. Should I casually mention it to him when I see him at the gym tonight?

Your showing too much eagerness if you bring anything up tonight at the gym

I'm not sure if he is seeing "business" as he has put it off a couple of times now.. So I would just let him attend, do his quotes, stuff and see how it goes from there.

Keep your cards to your chest at the moment. You should note if he flirts with you as well when he comes around, or just talks business.

I wouldn't act all keen, as guys like the chase remember as much as we do

Okay, so I didn't say anything about at the gym, but he did come and talk to me for half an hour while I was working out. I was there with my roommate/best friend and somehow we got on the topic of the fact that up until about two days ago I've never had to take public transportation and how much I was freaking out because I thought I took the wrong train and he kept saying I was "so cute". But I'm not sure if he was making fun of me. On my way home after my work out, he called my cell phone to ask what time on Tuesday would work and to confirm my address....and to see how the rest of my work out went.

So he did show up with his business partner today and really they spent like 5 minutes looking at the lawn and for the next hour and a half we were just shooting the breeze. And he kept saying how "adorable" (again, not sure if he was making fun of my lawn maintenance skills...or lack thereof). And then when he was leaving he asked if I was going to the gym later and he would see me there because he was heading to his job there.

Of course, I saw him there and he finished work before I finished my work out and he came to say goodbye and he said he was going home to go to bed and maybe watch a movie like "the Notebook" but would probably cry himself to sleep because he hasn't found his soul mate yet.....hmmm.....is that a hint, or am i reading to much into it. I'm trying to play it cool, but still let him know that i am interested but not gonna throw myself at him.

Don't read too much into any of it. Why not not just keep it light and see what develops?
