    Need Ideas...BF leaving for India....

So the boyfriend leaves for India in 5 days... I wanted to give him something nice to take with him, but obviously he's going to be short on space. I thought about putting a picture of us from vacation into a small frame so he'd have it with him but not sure if that's too cheesy/sappy...

also, any suggestions on keeping the romance alive while he's gone? We're not sure how long it'll take mail to get there so since he's only gone 4 weeks, not sure about mailing too many things. But I plan to try to send a care package the first week he's gone so hopefully he gets. Also we are going to *try* to figure out the Skype thing so we can do that at least once a week for 5-10 minutes and actually see each other. He also plans to get a cell phone and I should have that number within a couple days of him getting there... Any suggestions??

I am going to miss him terribly but I am doing my best to try to be positive and make this a good experience for him. I normally text him messages but we won't be able to do that so much while he's gone and the talking will be limited because of the time differences and expense obviously.

    Thanks!

    Nothing cheesy about pictures.

How about one of those digital frames that you can load with a slide show which can be updated from time to time.

Nothing like new pic's of you to keep things fresh.

The digital frame is a really good idea! I love mine and you can put a lot of pics on them.

If you use Express mail, it is about 10 days or so.

I would LOVE to get him something hi-tech like a digital album but not sure we'd have time to teach him to use it He's not exactly super technologically saavy. Love him to death, I do...but not his strong point. If he has to take the time to set it up, it'd probably never come out of the suitcase.

But I guess that means a picture is a good idea... I also thought about hiding a few notes within his stuff he takes... although the last time I did that in his backpack it took him 3 weeks to find it lol

You mean there is someone more challenged than myself

Ok, so the chances are slim he'll do it on his own. Ok so it's going to be up to you to do it for him. Well, get two of them. Load the first one (make sure you keep the boxes), have him take that one with him. You keep the second one. After a couple of weeks, you send him the second one and he'll send the first one back to you. Repeat every few weeks.

Then when he gets back home, you'll both have one.

That sounds like a great idea, but I think it'd be a bit cost prohibitive for me right now. I just moved and still need to buy a few things I need for the new place and I'm on a pretty tight budget as is. He would also end up out of money shipping back and forth.. I like the idea... Maybe I can just do old school and mail out new pictures every 2-3 days. Less bulky. Less worry about getting lost in shipment, etc.

You're probably right. Guess it'll be either snail mail or e-mail.

Oh, and good luck with the new apt.

I was thinking she'd load the pics herself and slip it into his suitcase... I guess I could have clarified myself. lol

I referenced the mail, should she want to send anything else, but I think the frame would go over with him.

He wouldn't have to learn anything about it. You could get it, load all the pictures for him and put it in his suitcase. All he has to do is plug it in, oh, assuming of course he is taking adapters...
