online dating sites
maybe there was a previous thread on this... idk I was too lazy to look LOL. So, since I've been desperately trying to get over my recent heartbreak, I have joined an online dating site. I've been talking to this one guy that I'm interested in, he seems like a really cool and down-to-earth guy (and he's HOTT!). I'll be meeting up with him for the first time next weekend... a little nervous and excited about it.

I think expect most people to be a little different in person than they are online! But good luck to you, seems like a catch thus far!
Oh and I know you're not looking for advice on this but, rule of thumb is that people shouldn't date until they get over their heartbreak on their own, first.
Otherwise it sets you up for high expectations and consequent disappointment. Anyway just my two cents!

Thank you, Mes... I don't generally have high expectations of anyone, and I'm not planning on jumping into a relationship with this guy I met online, just be friends and see if it leads somewhere. I have been hung up on this guy (my close friend) for over a year, and now that I know it will most likely never go beyond that, I just feel like I need to move on. I have tried everything to get over him and it's been so hard, especially because he is my best friend. The only thing I haven't tried is dating someone, I thought that maybe if I develop feelings for someone else then the feelings I have for my friend will start to dissipate. Maybe I just don't know how to get over him, idk... I just feel like I need to do something because I am sick of feeling this way.
Sorry I changed the subject... any other thoughts?Comment

I'm sorry to hear that kristalyn,
Btw I met my fiance on a dating site too, and we're getting married! well you should be careful with guys on a dating site.. just make sure he is really single and he is totallly the same like he is online.. soon as you are sure about it.. it means youre good to be together with him...
what I think is, when we chat online, we have two possibilities, either they are fake, or they are really real. cuz sometimes people do talk better in online chatting, maybe it is more comfortable to talk thru chatting than talkin eye to eye. I mean we sometimes are more truthful when we are online and can express what we feel bluntly. so, you can try to date him but make sure you know what kind of person he is. Meeting him in real is important. we need to know all about him, right?Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian AndersonComment
