    who has it harder...

...in the dating world: men or women?

Clearly its tough for guys because they typically are expected to initiate conversations, ask for numbers, (which puts them in a position of possible rejection) show interest...but not too much so shes not creeped out, impress her on dates, etc.

    On the other hand...

Its tough for women too. Because we have to play the game. and thats really hard to do sometimes! (maybe more so for some rather than others :-P) We have to wait to be "chosen". If we dont, they lose interest because that makes it too easy to "catch" us. We cant make ourselves too available, we have to keep them interested, remain aloof (or act like it), etc. Its difficult in different ways, in my opinion. but which is harder?

    What do you think? Why?

It is hard on both because a person who is serious has to open themselves up a little, no matter what sex or what role.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
    ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

If a guy needs you to play hard to get to remain interested, then he's not really interested in you in particular in the first place, he's just interested in "the chase." If two people honestly like each other, they should just get together and there is no need for any games to be involved.
