If you have any advice on what I might could say to her to make her see what is going on or just give me adive on how to just be there for her, please share.

My friend is hung up on a ex.
I have this friend who is so hung up on her ex-boyfriend that it isn't even funny. They broke up about 4 1/2 months ago and still that is all she talks about. I try and be supportive and give her advice, but she doesn't take it and insist that her and her ex will get back together. He will randomly text her to get her hopes up, ask if she would like to hang out, then break off the plans with her and ignores her until he is ready to talk again. everytime they do hang out he always thinks it will end up with them having sex, otherwise he doesn't want to really hang out. If she tells him that she just wants to hang out, nothing more.. he come up with an excuse on why he can't come at the last minute. I try and tell her that he is using her and so does her family but she will not listen.
If you have any advice on what I might could say to her to make her see what is going on or just give me adive on how to just be there for her, please share. -
Hi pmg, it's touch watching your friend go through this I know..
When there is any "hope" people will hang onto it, that is what she is doing. Words are words and off course she won't listen, they are not feelings and she's hoping.
Really, to be her friend, you have voiced your opinion with her, she knows what you think, leave it at that and leave her to get through this and over him in her time and be her friend, listening and standing by her. That is what true friends are, through good and bad.
He may not be using her, here is what I think he is doing, he's ensuring that she doesn't sleep with anyone else, because men get greedy it's like "I don't want you anymore but I'm danged if another guy is going to get any, and then laugh in my face".. EGO.
She should casually mention that you guys are getting her out and about more now and she's enjoying it...
Somehow she has to be assertive. Our assets are ours, we dont have to give and if we don't give, they hate it
PUT A LITTLE 'LIKE' IN MY SOUL! -
I had a friend that was basically doing the exact same thing.
Try to mention to her that if she wants to stop hurting, she should delete all his information. Delete him from Facebook/Cellphone/Stop seeing him all together. Because it will only hurt her more.
If she continues to talk with him, do what Chandler said and just let her be. She knows how you feel. If she's not going to take your advice, then just let her do it.Comment
