    Advice PLEASSSEEE?

So, my boyfriend of one year, and my roommate for the past 5 months writes in a journal. And I'm really not one to snoop AT ALL.I sometimes like to find scrap piece of paper and write " I love you " and stuff like that, I was going to do that in his journal on a random page. Unluckily I found what he had wrote.. I'm not going to say exactly but one of this entries was a poem of sorts about his ex. I wish you were with me, I wish we gave us another chance, I wish i could relive those days. Etc. And in my head I'm thinking.. great! He is still in love with his ex from 3 years ago.. So I brought it up to him and his story was that "I havent written since I broke up with her, I started written lately and I just picked up where I left off, I had to let go of those feelings, etc" so? Should I believe him or not? He's looked me straight in the eyes and has lied to me while I was crying.. So its hard for me to believe him sometimes.. He has cheated before, and this is just driving me insane. If you were me, would you believe him? That its all just for the sake of writing and not his true feelings? Please help.. I really need someone elses perspective. Thanks!

When I mean he has cheated, on his ex, not me.

I couldn't tell you whether to believe him or not. He has lied to you before. Why do you think that is? Is he just dishonest? Is he avoiding your wrath, tears, etc? What does he get by hiding the truth?

Assuming he did still have some feelings for her, is that really a crime? He's with you. It is possible that there are things about that relationship he does miss, but that doesn't mean he would give up you to get them.

Not to pick on you, but it is hard to believe you are "not one to snoop AT ALL" Like opening someone else's mail, most people know that a journal is off limits. Period. In addition, part of the point of keeping a journal is to help let go of feelings. He was hurting when he broke up with his ex, he wrote down his feelings and let them go. He's been feeling good since. The questions you might want to understand is why, after three years of feeling good, is he now picking up the journal?

Trust if vital to a relationship and distrust is toxic. How long do you want to continue this if you don't trust him?

i have been divorced from my ex husband for 8 years and have been remarried to my new husband for 3 years. there is still a piece of my heart that loves my ex. I will always have a place in my heart for him but i could never ever go back to him. there is to much water under the bridge. to many hurtfull things have happened. i absolutely adore my husband now. we have an amazing relationship. just because there is a small piece of my heart that still loves my ex doesn't mean i love my new husband any less.
