    No excitment anymore

So, after 2 years of dating my boyfriend, I feel so so comfortable with him. I feel like we've known each other forever, we're like an old married couple. We don't bother dressing up for each other anymore (always messy hair and sweatpants lol). Is this very early in the relationship for this "heat" to leave? Not saying its a bad thing, just curious

If you want to keep the excitement, you both need to work at it. My wife of 25 years and I went through a long dull miserable time, but things are enormously improved now that we both try to keep things exciting. We send each other naughty emails (in code) during the day. She is often wearing something enticing when I get home. I've started wearing things I know she likes when I'm home. I send her flowers at work by surprise for no reason other than as an "i love you".

Comfortable is great - but don't let it get dull.

This is so true. Its great to know that your partner will love you even in those ugly sweats and morning breath. Its wonderful to know that you don't HAVE to do makeup every day. But the thing about a well balanced relationship is that you continue to do those things (although not as often) because you want to look good for your lover. You both have to put the effort in. It doesn't have to be often. Maybe once a month you have date time where you go to a fancy restaurant and get all dressed up. Remember, it doesn't count if you are getting dressed up to go to a party where there are other people. You want to show your lover that you are doing it for him/her.

Also, don't think of it as work. Its fun to see your partner smile in amazement when you surprise them with something romantic or sexy.

Every relationship is different but only "you" (each of you) can decide to keep things "exciting" and "new".

Sweatpants and messy hair? Isn't that the comfort level that we all shoot for eventually? Seems like you just got a head start...

Valentine's Day is just around the corner... May not be the time for chocolates but something a little more "fun"? If nothing else, it's a good excuse to do something...buy a new pair of sweats even!!

To be honest, that just depends upon you two. Each couple operates differently. You have two two different people, with their own personalities, being meshed together to make one relationship; one life together. No two relationships are the same, they aren't going to operate in the exact same way. If you two work the way things are going now, and you two are happy, you're moving forward in the direction that you both want; then don't throw a hammer at the relationship. If one or both of you want a little something different; then sit down together and talk about it.
