I'm in love with my boyfriend but have fallen for someone else.

My boyfriend and I have been together for over two years. We have fights and arguments like any normal couple. It's happened before where I've developed a minor crush on someone else. I never worried though as I was told by a friend that it was normal and healthy and these crushes soon go away after maybe a month at most.

A few months ago in December last year I began to fall for another guy, who just so happens to be my best friend. At first I figured it was just another crush and I thought nothing of it. It didn't go away and the feeling became stronger. I'm not in love but the feeling is incredibly strong. I've never wanted anything to come of it because I don't want to lose the friendship.

Recently I admitted to my friend that I had fallen for him but also explained that I knew he didn't feel the same way, that even if he did I had a boyfriend, and that even if that wasn't the case I wouldn't want to lose the friendship that we have.

After admitting this to my friend he told me that he was gay and that he'd been wanting to tell someone for a very long time. This came as somewhat of a relief because it meant he could not reciprocate and there was no chance of anything happening between us.

My real question here is, do I need to tell my boyfriend? There is no chance of me leaving him over this as I still want to be with him and never wanted to lose him in the first place. My friend has asked that I tell absolutely no one about him being gay and I have promised to do so. If nothing will change between us, does he need to know?

if you fell for someone else, you do not love your boyfriend anymore.

athena has a good comment. Are you in love with your boyfriend at this time?

I think these feeling for you best friend will pass, it's just a crush you're going through Brigitte. Especially because he's gay.

I don't think you need to tell your boyfriend about that. There are really things that are better left unsaid.

There comes a time in relationships where maybe things are lacking somewhere and people tend to put their attention elsewhere. As long as you don't act on the feelings you're okay. In this case you got lucky. I don't think that its worth mentioning to your bf, considering your friend is gay, but you should try to figure out what you're relationship is lacking if youre trying to get attention somewhere else. If you're happy in your relationship you shouldn't have to...
