As you might have read, things ended with me & my ex (if you can call it that) of about 9 months.

Well, just a few minutes ago, my best friend OF 10 YEARS, has ended our friendship.

Now i have double the loss. How do i ever cope with the fact that i lost 2 of the most important people in my life within a matter of days?

Why has your best friend ended your friendship? I guess I really don't understand how you can "stop" being friends with someone.

Boyfriend is one thing but a friend of ten years just don't end friendships....

Maybe your friend is mad at you at the moment but will forgive you later on... Friends that long is like family...

smoking. that is ultimately the reason why she stopped being my best friend.
i started smoking about a year ago with my other best friend but we didn't think it'd be a good idea to tell her. then when we finally told her, she accepted it at first but was a little mad we hid it from her. this was about 4 months ago.

ever since then, she claimed we lie to her about everything.
her & her bf were on & off about accepting it. but then they gradually stopped inviting us places, stopped asking us to hang out, & then made it seem like we were the ones distancing ourselves.

the past 2 months or so, i would only see her in the morning when i brought her to school. she'd tell me we'd hang out after school but when im like ok are you ready we're gonna leave shes like oh i changed my mind. so idk what was up with that.

then today i get a message from her basically telling me that there was no point in us being friends. if you ask me, that is the most ridiculous reason to end a friendship. i know she told me to stop smoking, but it's my life, i take responsibility & make my own decisions. i do value her opinions & advice, but it is ultimately my choice.

the thing i don't understand is..when she wanted to smoke, it was okay. that is very hypocritical in my book.

so in the end, i told her if she is done, then there's nothing else for me to be but done also.

You know what I think?

I think that she thinks, that this other "best friend" is more of a best friend than she is as you "chose" to tell that "best friend" but not your 10 year best friend. You also state "we told her" that being the other "best friend and you".

If I was your "best friend of 10 years" and you chose to hide that from me, and then tell me with this new besty, I would think, well what? I thought that I was like a sister, your closest friend but you've chosen to hide something from me and then tell me with her. So obviously I am not your friend after all, after all, friends discuss EVERYTHING..

she wasn't a new besty, we were all best friends. despite being friends with her for 10 years, i was more like my other best friend. and it just so happened that we both wanted to smoke & we both knew how it'd effect our other friend. it's a lose lose situation. we tell her at the beginning, we lose, we hide it for a while, we lose.

i understand why she would be mad over us not telling her sooner, but to completely cut us out of her life? i just don't think that's necessary.
