    urgh...frustrated..and venting..

    i need to vent; and this was the first place i could think of. {because of all the lovely support everyone gives }

    so i have roommates. cool..living on my own n all that jazz. but i'm starting to see what kind of people my roommates REALLY are. i am usually pretty lenient on a lot of stuff. BUT, not when it comes to rent. bills are ok imo. becuase usually you get that pink slip! LOL. but rent you just can't be late on. everyone knows there's fees n all. its just a mess.

    ....anyway, im getting to a point where my roommates aren't staying on top of the rent. we have a 7 day grace period and they ALWAYS wait until the last day. i don't want the landlord to start giving us fees. thankfully he's pretty cool about stuff. but when is enough enough?

    i know i should accept people for who they are but its getting to a point where its starting to bug me. i try REALLY hard to brush it off. trust me, i've tolerated MUCH worse with them. but for some reason i can't get this rent thing out of my head. i don't want to get kicked out. we are on a month-to-month lease now. and TECHNICALLY the landlord can be like "oh, guess what, you're late ...see ya!"

    i know everyone is busy... myself included. but 3 months of being late on rent? c'mon! give me a break! i have already taken on way too much around the house. IMO they need to start taking some DARN responsibility!

    thanks for listening/reading.

    Money can always be a sensitive situation... I wonder if someone (you) just took charge of collecting the rent from them it would work better? I'm one of those who waits til the last day because I always feel too lazy to walk the rent check all the way over to the office (especially when it's really cold outside!). So maybe if you got all the money from them first and then took charge of walking it over, they may be more agreeable of that. At that point for them it's just a matter of sitting down and writing a check.

    Especially since they're technically still not late on the rent by turning it in on the last day, they may not see any incentive or real reason to turn it in earlier. If you alleviate the burden of walking it over they may go for it. Just a thought anyway!

      Can you pay your portion on time so at least the landlord can see that you aren't part of the problem? That would go a long way later on down the road when you need a reference from him.

        thanks gals/guys

        we have to mail the check in. the landlord lives a county away. and he said "as long as i get it BY the 7th, it should be fine." landlord wants everything in one check. and i wish it was that easy. plus, all the utilities are in my name already. i handle the mail. i call the landlord when things go wrong. call the cable when the cable goes out...i mean i do a lot of stuff.

        AND i have a full time job! plus, i want to start school again soon. and ALL they have to do is keep track of rent. no one confesses to things; when they go wrong but they are quick to point fingers. i just feel alone. i don't even talk to them. sometimes i wonder if living with boys is easier...lol.

          You've become the mother of the household. Can you afford to live in a studio apt by yourself? Careful about having everything in your name, it can mess up your credit if they decide not to pay. As long as you are taking care of everything and tip-toeing around they will continue to act like children.

          The best advice I can give you is to look for a place of your own or with one other responsible person. Roommate situations like this, at your age, always seem to end badly with lots of fighting and hard feelings amongst friends.

            sadly, i can't afford to live on my own. with the economy the way it is.. i'm kinda skeptical living on my own. i do have to be careful about that credit thing. thanks for reminding me.

            the thing is that both my roommates are "buddy buddy" and i personally like my liver to go out partying with them. and to be honest i don't really want to. im not a "paris hilton" follower and don't spend 300 bucks on a wallet. so TRYING to get new roommates i would be out numbered. so, im kinda S.O.L. on that.

                Depends on the roomates, I'd bet most of us could tell some doozies of roomate stories. Especially in situations like college where you find through the housing service.

                    wow that makes me so glad I own my own house. The only roommate I have to put up with is my fiance and our three pets. Anyways, my advice would be to maybe look in the paper for people who might be seeking a roommate and find yourself a new place to live. Let your current roommates figure things out on their dangerous way of living without you there to save their skins.
