Please Wish My Boobie Good Luck...

Yes, it's a health thing rather than a relationship thing, but I haven't posted anywhere but here yet, and only a few times. Tomorrow I'm having something removed from my left breast that has an 80% chance of being benign (thus 20% chance of malignancy.) I think I'm going to be fine, but I'm not thrilled about the whole thing, as you might imagine--and I do know about the power of "group thought" or prayer.

So I thought I'd post and ask for your support. I'm not sure yet if I'll know the biopsy outcome tomorrow or not--I may, or may have to wait a few days. Whatever the outcome, it's bound to hurt some afterwards--so I'm just seeking some kind words in advance.

    Thanks, ladies.

    Ladywolf (Margi)

P.S. I've already had cervical cancer, so this doesn't seem like a big deal to me, just kind of...icky!!!!

Keep your spirits up ladywolf. Your body feeds on your energy, you sound like you are being pretty positive so that is a really good thing. Will think of you and send a prayer.

                  An Update from Margi

Thanks, Ladies, for all your good wishes and reminders to think positively. Because yesterday was something of an ordeal.

The surgery itself wasn't too bad--I elected to remain awake but sedated (brave girl that I am), which allowed me to hear the surgeon say the following two things: during the surgery, "Wow, look at THIS!", and after the surgery, "I think I'll take THIS one down to Pathology myself!"

Gulp. And the results won't be back for four or five working days...

So...I'm not worrying a lot, but I'm worrying a little. Because if it IS cancer, then there might need to be more surgery, etc. So...I DON'T have cancer, or...I DID, but it's all gone now. All gone now. Gone, all of it. Now. Gone. Never happened, la-di-da...

And on the way home from Tucson to Oracle, usually an hour northeast, my old Volvo wagon stalled out eight times on one of the hottest record-breaking days of the year. My friend Janice, who weighs 300 pounds, was driving, and she was in the sun most of the way, while I was usually on the shady side of the car. We discovered that if we let Gwendolyn, the Volvo, rest about twenty minutes between stops, she would start up again and go a couple more miles before she stalled again...

So the one-hour trip home took 3.5 hours, with no A.C., when it was about 108 out, full sun. We tried to remember my favorite old adage, "If it will be funny later, it's funny now," and we ARE laughing today, but yesterday was quite a hardship.

The only thing that saved us was...well, I was flying on painkillers and...we had with us a copy of a book I'm editing right now that is really, really good, so I read out loud to Janice from the book while we sat and waited for Gwendolyn to get over her ****fits...

Yes, I had a cell phone, and yes, we could have called someone in Oracle, but we knew that by the time anyone reached us, the car would have started up again just fine. I could have had someone pick ME up and let Janice limp home with all the stops along the way, but I was flying on painkillers and didn't care too much, and besides, she's my best friend and was developing heatstroke, as was I...so, we stayed together and took the slow boat home.

In a few days, I'll find out from the surgeon what his "Wow, look at THIS!" was all about, and as for Gwendolyn, well, she is just resting right now. I have NO money, none at all, so surgery for Gwendolyn is out of the question at the moment. So I'll just have to confine my driving to locally, which is not a problem. No Highway 77 Revisited for Gwendolyn right now.

Thanks again for all your positive energy, and please keep sending it. When the painkillers wore off overnight and I woke up this morning, I didn't KNOW that anything could hurt so much (the doctor ended up cutting all around the NIPPLE--talk about pain!) But as soon as I took more narcotics, life was bearable again.

Thanks also for listening to all this. In case you can't tell, I'm a writer and editor, with a website you can visit if you are interested in who I am: (EDIT). This is NOT an advertisement--it's just that I tell a lot of the story of my life on the website, under "About me." I want to know more about you all, too.

Keep the faith, and I'll do the same!

                  Higs, uh, that was HUGS--Margi

How old is Miss Gywn? My Tinkerbell is an 82 wagon with almost 300k miles -still on the original engine, trannie and clutch. You may need a new thermostat but also take a look at the radiator (not hard to replace) and the cap on the overflow tank oh, and the air mass meter. What kind of shape is your antifreeze in? If you are at all mechanical I know a really good forum for Volvo questions. You can't PM yet but you can post on my profile.

Hope you will be getting good news! Thank you for keeping us up to date.
