That's so great to hear, that she took the step to include you in her therapy session, and to get everything out in the open. It's really good that she had that change of heart and was able to be honest about everything.

Speaking as a child of divorce, I know how hard it can be, especially when it's new. My parents divorced when I was 6 - I'm 24 now, so obviously I'm more used to it, but back then it was really difficult. I'm not sure how old your daughter is, but I know that I was too young to understand why my dad had to live in a different house and everything. I absolutely worshipped him, he's still one of my favorite people in the world. And honestly, I assumed that it was just my mother telling him to leave. I wouldn't say I was angry, but I was confused as to why she would make it so he had to leave. I lived with her but saw him on weekends, and would cry for hours every Sunday night when I came home because I missed him so much. But after a little while, once I adjusted to everything, I was okay. It was just very confusing and overwhelming for me. Now that I think about it, I also saw a counselor not long after that.

Anyway, my point being... even if your daughter might hold a little resentment towards you now, I'm sure things will be a lot better once she realizes it was for the best. It's understandable to want to please both parents, especially when deciding which she should live with. But I think once you both go through some more counseling, there will be more understanding. Yeah, I was sad back then... but when I think about it now, I think "Wow, they were TERRIBLE for each other!" haha. They get along great, no hard feelings at all. But now that I know their differences and personalities, I'd probably hate them being together even more.

I think you guys will be okay

I'm so glad you are seeing some happy results!
You must remember that having an affiar was a poor choice but you can't punish yourself forever. It doesn't sound like you just went out looking to get laid. You were feeling alienated and lost and turned to the wrong place for comfort. You don't get second chances with your children, they grow up so fast. You stick with it! Don't dis your ex, don't dis yourself, show your daughter that you love her, are her mother no matter what and will always be there for her.

Don't have a fear that your husband (ex) is more important than you to your daughter.

She rang you, and asked you to go with her.

And, he has agreed for her to stay with you for 5 days.

Your anger between each other, needs to remain there and his anger over your affair needs to remain between you both. For, the sake of your child, and it's important that, I think, he doesn't think you will "brainwash" her, then he may give in more and relax more and stop any manipulation on his part, if it can just be, "we didn't fit", but our daughter fits in with both of us.

Perhaps tell him those words...and continue to tell him, so it sinks in.

I think the fact that your daughter was able to communicate, wanted you there and cares about her Daddy, means she has a good head on her shoulders and she won't neglect you and only love him....

Glad to "hear" such happiness in your voice on your last post

Sounds like you have had a bit of good news. Teach your daughter to be strong and not be manipulated as you were. Manipulation is not love. If you think the lawyers are being complacent get pushy and ask more questions. You are a good person who has made mistakes. Time to make them right! Keep fighting and take care of yourself.
