How long does the "Honey moon" stage last? I want it to last forever!!

My boyfriend and I are completely in love. There is a not a day that goes by that I question his or my love for him. We've been together for a year and 3 months. We live together and are extremely compatible. We have never gone to bed mad at each other and I wake up every morning in his arms and a smile.

Of course, we have our squabbles every now and then but we always make up and get over it. We have absolutely no drama in our relationship and I wouldn't have it any other way. People always comment how compatible and in love we are and are always surprised when we tell them we've been together for over a year.

I am afraid, though, that one day we will "lose" this. You know how couples get over their "honey moon" stage.

I know a young couple who have been married for 10 years and if you had just met them, you'd think they've been married for one day. They are SO in love and it's SO evident even after 10 years. They adore each other.

I want our love to be like that too. We are seriously talking about marriage and I would not be surprised if he pops the question this Spring.

I know relationships and people are not all perfect but I just don't want this goodness to end.

    How do I keep this??

I would, but the guy (who was my friend) betrayed me horribly so we don't speak anymore.

I agree with sperosi.. and even though you can't ask that particular couple, when you run across ones that do manage to show that passion after all this time... ask them what their secret is. But don't discount the fact that how some people act in public is not how they act at home.

Me and my boyfriend aren't quite at 2 years yet and we still hold hands cuddle hug each other all day, in public or at home. He'll kiss me before going upstairs to shower , I'll kiss him before going outside to get something from my car.

II think its about compatibility for couples maintining that little buz that happens in most relationships early phases throughout the duration of their time together. Sometimes people are not truly themselves at first... and slowly reveal their nature as time goes on and I think thats where the honeymoon phase ends. If people are genuine with each other and how they feel and doing what they really like to do... I don't see why it has to stop unless they just don't want to be like that anymore.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

My love for my hubby grows more and more every day.

We've been together for 15 to 16 years, married for almost 12. Saying we've been through a lot together is an understatement, but in the end it has made us stronger for each other. We weren't nearly each others firsts, but, that doesn't matter to us because whatever we did in the past, led us to each other.

We are a couple of dorks and have fun with each other. My mom laughs because after all this time, we never leave each other without saying our I love you's and giving each other a kiss.

Make it fun, make it enjoyable and don't nag on the small stuff that can easily be overlooked.

Don't be afraid. Fear can be poison for a relationship. Many couples think that things are going so good.. perhaps even 'too good'.. that they brace themselves for when they think the good times will end. The good times don't have to end, but if the fear becomes too much then it can turn into a self fulfilling prophecy as either one or both people begin to sabotage the relationship.

I think that's exactly what I'm afraid of! Everything is going SO well that I'm almost waiting for the day it all gets flushed down the toilet.

I do remember, before my friend and his wife stabbed me in the back, that they said communication is the #1 thing they work on everyday. Like, not hiding things from each other and letting the other person know your feelings clearly, etc.

That is very true! Things can be very different at home. I did live with this couple for four months and they acted the same way at home as they did in public. Very lovey dovey, etc...

My boyfriend and I act the same way everywhere. All of our friends tell us how much they can see that we love each other.
