One of my best friends wont stop with her stupid lies!!!

Okay so, 1 of my closest friends who has never let me down or back stabbed me, well she is lovley apart from she dont stop lying!! It is silly big lies not little lies either. She is quite chubby, and no affence to her i know looks dont matter, but she isnt very good looking either. I still love her to pieces, because she is a right laugh!! SHE IS 18 AND ACTS 12! She thinks she is black and tries to act like a gangsta infront of my other friends, she has only had 1 boyfriend in her life, but she says she had loads, i will give some examples of her lies....
    1. Her boyfriend 'T' nearly killed her ex 'derren' for raping her and getting her adicted to herrion. She went to the funreal ect.. even turned on the tears. Then 5 months later she tells us it was a fake funreal.
    2. She has had sex with 'T's' dad and brother, his brother rapped her and T beat him up
    3. Then she has had that many miscarraiges ive lost count, she has had a still born
    4. She really goes to sutton colfeild college, but she says she goes to nacro, she got kicked out of college for smashing a window with a chair and hung a girl outside the window by her neck for been racist to her mate.

The reasons i know all these are lies is because her mom never lets her out the house, she has not 1 scan of her still born, and the lies are that bad they just could not be true!! Everybody knows there lies, this is why she hasnt got a lot of friends, because her lies are sick. Ive tried confronting her a few times about her lies, once going mad and the others just talking, but she refuses that any of them are lies. It annoys me, cuz she moans she hasnt got a life maybe if she stopped the lies she would have a better lifestyle. Can any1 help me by confronting her, i love her company but can only deal with her for a couple of hours otherwise im ready to rag my hair out. Please help!!!!

Maybe ask her more questions when she tells stories like that, feign interest, if you know for sure they're lies. Don't go off based on assumptions, you never know. See how she is when she responds to them. If she needs to sit there and think about it too long, she's probably making something up because she wasn't expecting you to ask for other details.

If you know for 100% fact that she's lying, just call her out on it. Don't be harsh about it but just make her aware that you know she's making it up, tell her to quit it or you won't be able to handle it.

Either way, make sure you're absolutely sure.

It sounds like your friend is a Compulsive Liar..

Lying for her has become a habit, and in some way, a comfort. The lies come out all the time, about things both large or small). And she feels safe when telling stories. She gets something positive - be it attention, safety, whatever...

It really sounds like she may have this problem since she is so habitual about it and her lies are so over the top, yet she swears them to be true.

Unfortunately, compulsive lying is hard for the person to see, but it hurts everyone around them. And it can be a symptom of more severe personality disorders, to add insult to injury.

Do some online research about dealing with a compulsive liar. There are all kinds of forums out there about how to identify compulsive lying behavior, and how to deal with someone who has this problem....

best of luck to you! You must have the patience of a saint to have listened to all her tall tales for so long and still consider her a best friend!

Personally I don't know how you could love the company of a person that lies so. If you are sure beyond the shadow of a doubt that she is full of it, why continue to have her around you? I don't think you could really love her company if she get's on your nerves after being around you only a few hours.

If she is as much an irritant to you as she seems to be based off of your post, I would honestly just limit your time with her, and let her live out her own little fantasy until she decides to grow up from it.

If you really care for here that much, then call her out on it. Asking solid questions and keeping the "facts" straight in your head are good ways to catch a liar off guard, and they will usually end up side stepping their story often. If her compulsion is as strong as it seems though, I don't think you calling her out on it will do much.

Well to be honest i dont think she will grow out of it, ive been friends with her for at least 5 years now, if the girl is 18 why would she randomly stop now? Thing is , her mom is kinda strict with her so she dont get out much anyway, she has never been able to sleep over some where so thats my point. She lies about been out till what time in the morning, when relisticly she is in bed. I just turn my ears off now, and change the subject or dont answer. I know its rude but if she is doing it for a attenshion i'll just have to ingnore her like a little child.

Maybe she feels bad about herself, so she makes these things up to look all 'cool and popular'.

She also could be very insecure and by making all these lies up, may help her feel a lot more comfortable. Therefore, the more she tells a lie, the more she will even make herself believe that its true...which may help her feel more secure about herself.

i'd tell her if she valued your friendship to stop peddeling her BS. Point blank She isn't really lying to you she is lying to herself. Sad she wishes that much drama was in her life.
