If I ask him if he wants to talk more... would it seem weird or needy?

How often do you talk on the phone with your boyfriend/girlfriend?
My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 weeks but we have not talked on the phone that much. We text a bit each day but he told me he hates conversations that are not face to face. Which I can understand, in person he is amazing. I personally don't mind talking on the phone from time to time. But a lot of my friends talk daily with their boyfriends and I wonder if that is what is "normal." I definitely know he is interested in me so it is not a problem of whether he likes me or not.

Well, a few questions come to mind...My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 weeks but we have not talked on the phone that much. 1) how often are you talking on the phone now?
2) How often do you text?
3) How often do you see each other?
4) were you all hanging out/dating before the 2 weeks? If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.

It was a year of dating before my and my boyfriend had a convo on the phone that lasted more than 10 minutes lol. We see each other every single day in person, email while at work and both text random junk all the time. We just didn't have a need to for hanging out on the phone babbling about nothing.
I'll call him when I have something to say that would take too long to text, or when I just want to hear his voice. But I don't need to have him on the phone often, and we're just fine.Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.Comment

Thanks HD...That was kind of my point..if you see each other every day and email or text, etc.. he probably doesn't feel the need to talk on the phone. I am not much of a phone talker myself, but my guy and I have been together almost two months and we probably talk on the phone for maybe 2-3 minutes once every two weeks. I see him (for some amount of time) at least 5 out of 7 days a week and we email every day at work once usually and text a few times later in the evening before bed if I'm not with him.It was a year of dating before my and my boyfriend had a convo on the phone that lasted more than 10 minutes lol. I wouldn't think it'd be bad to mention it, but if you're seeing each a lot and texting, I would assume that's why

I wouldn't worry about how much your friends talk to their boyfriends. There is no reason to compare because their relationships are theirs, totally different from your with your guy.. so trying to compare will get you nowhere.
If you are happy with how much you communicate, if you see each other regularly, text regularly, and are pretty involved in each other's lives, then calling all the time is not so important.
Besides, if you talk to him on the phone all the time then you will have that much less to talk about when you are physically together and can speak to each other in person. Which do you like better?Comment

Thanks for the replies.
Well we have been hanging out every Saturday, except this past one it was Sunday and I slept over. And we are trying to hang out Wednesdays as well or a day in the week that works with our schedules.
We text everyday even if it is just "How are you?" and cute little things.
I guess I was just over thinking and worrying. I tend to do that.
When we do talk on the phone he is always the one to ask so that is good. And we do that about twice a week.
Thinking it over it would be pointless to talk on the phone if we text all day.Comment

Never and I prefer it that way. I actually turned down any guy that immediately asked to talk on the phone instead of online. I'd never talked to my husband on the phone or in person when I went to meet him and we still send messages online or if he's not on aim at work through text messages. I called him maybe once or twice while driving to pick him up or meet him somewhere since texting in that situation was not possible.Comment

Well my boyfriend's gone for a week (we otherwise see each other every day) and has promised to call every day, so we'll see how that goes. Personally I'm not fond of phone conversations, they make me nervous for some reason...
Sounds like you guys are in touch very often, so don't worry about anything.Comment
