I think you needed that talk bd, I think he needed to hear it, I think you needed to say it and I think you needed to hear what he had to say too.

I am very very very happy for you, because this way or that way the water is no longer merky, you've said clearly and plainly how you feel and I think you said it fairly, not threatning and ... I'm pretty doggone impressed with your ability to let yourself be vulnerable and speak from your heart.

Hearing what you said about your father, gave me so much more of understanding of your stance on independence. I can see now why you feel the way you do about having your own place, and asserting you are taking care of yourself.

Now the ball is in his court to take your words to heart, to give you the benefit of the doubt when he has a misunderstanding, to tell you what he feels when he feels it and not just kick dirt and wait for you to prod it out of him, to be affectionate with you without the anticipation of sex each and everytime and to show interest in the things that matter to you.

And if he doesn't you don't have to beat yourself up trying to figure out why he doesn't get it, but see that he does get it, he just can't do it.

But I hope for the both of you that he does 'get it' and that you guys are stronger and happier for this talk.

Well I wasn't on when this posted, but I wanted to say that it sounds like you all had a really good conversation, and you're right. You just give it your all and then no matter what happens, you will know that you gave 100%. I think that is what is truly important!

Hope it all works out for you dear. I know you've had it on your mind a lot lately but it sounds like you're on the path of figuring out where you're headed.

      Keep us posted!!

Thanks all. The talk was definitely a step in the right direction for both of us, whether the future has us together or not. I appreciate your support as always.

I'm glad you talked BD. And it seems like it was done in an open, non judgemental, drama-free sort of way, which yields productive communication. It was good that you took the time to back off a bit, think, and cool off before having that talk. I think it helped you to explain yourself, your feelings, your perceptions in a way that he could understand.

Hopefully you two have a better understanding of where each other is coming from now, and can work towards making the positive changes in your relationship to keep things going in the right direction Again, so happy for you two that you were able to have such a productive conversation.. as long and tiring as it was, I think it will prove to be ever so useful in your relationship now and in the future

          good for you!
