I agree with KM (without her spending habits) that maybe it's more on what it's spent on.

Hehe In my defense, we needed a couch and a dishwasher, I just happened to be at the post office next to Colders when it dawned on me lol

Back to the issue at hand, in response to that, is his insecurity over his own self image. I've mentioned before in your own handling of certain issues not to let your self doubts cloud your confidence. Here seems to be a situation where you can relay that same message to him.

Maybe he needs to know he's won the prize and that your love and commitment is the prize. He could use a nice dose of self confidence that it was him and him alone who you want to be with. Just a thought.

I think pretzel could be on to something here! Definitely worth exploring.. he shouldn't feel like he has to keep winning you over time and time again.. he's got you, and he should be told that, whether or not its the root of the issue with his adversity to spending money sometimes...

Thanks again to both of you. I will definitely try to help calm some of his fears. I guess it doesn't hurt to remind someone that you and happy just where you are at sometimes. I feel like I do that but probably not as much as I could. Maybe with a combo of that and the discussion about spending we can find some happy middle ground I just really wanted to make sure it was discussed *before* we went on the trip and all especially so he'd know that I do not expect him to pay for everything or anything while we're gone. I'd be paying anyway if it was me like always...

Just trying to be proactive I know how things can sit and fester and then something that starts off truly innocent can become HUGE because it's never mentioned...
