I've been with my boyfriend for 4 years, and I can never seem to want him to get close to me... by getting close I mean opening up to him so he can help me, or i can never take a compliment well off him because whenever he pays me a compliment i reply with a "oh yeah whatever" and he has told me it annoys him because he's trying to compliment me and im just shooting him down. I dont know why I keep doing this, because I actually feel really good when i'm around him.. he makes me feel so happy, I just don't know wether this is an issue with me or him

It can take a while to get over feeling "not good enough".
It sounds that you finally found someone who cares about you, and that your past relationships weren't like that, nor your childhood so your having trouble accepting it, as you weren't used to it.
It's OK, to believe. And, it's OK, to realise that when you start to become an Adult, so does the other person in your life and in that they see, the reality of what you are, who you are...
You've changed from when you were a child.. So realise that you are special. He thinks so and you need to realise it as well.
Past is past sweet.
