It sounds like your ex is still very entwined in your life. Too entwined. He jumped on this as a possible way to get an 'in' to you or to stay entwined. The comment to others that if you wanted to come, you could stay in his room says it all.

Tell HIM that you are hurt by this and that this drives a further wedge between you and quit having him mowing. lunching and spending or talking Sundays. You are just keeping his hopes up and delaying yourself from healing. Then try to rethink this as a way to give yourself some time to your self. They are taking the ex away, you will get some truly ex-free time - if you don't spend it dwelling on this. Go do something nice for yourself.

Last Sunday was the first time we had seen each other since we broke up a month and a half ago. We had both agreed we wanted to remain friends, if nothing else because of our mutual friends. But we also both agreed we didn't need to even attempt it until the emotions from the breakup cooled down. So we waited, and when we got to that point, I agreed for him to come over and talk and say the things he had been wanting to say. Our meeting was cordial, not romantic or reminiscent in the least. And because he saw how sick I was, and had been for a week at that point, he said he'd come mow the yard while I was at work. I came home for lunch as I do every day, he was there mowing, so when I fixed myself and sandwich I fixed him one too. I TOTALLY agree with what you're saying, I just wanted to explain that he and I haven't been seeing each other, hanging out and doing all this stuff for the past month and a half.

I know that you're right, he's trying to keep himself too entwined in my life. I think he thought that somehow they'd talk me into going and then I'd be with him. But regardless of what his intentions were, they were deceitful and very much like a stab in the back.

I've already decided I'll plan something special for myself while they're going. And all I can do is hope and pray that by that point in time, this doesn't hurt me anymore. Right now, it's ripping my heart out.
