    bugging house

I found out that my ex boyfriend who now wants to get back together was bugging my house because he thought i was cheating. What are the laws about this and is there anything i can do to see if there is anything else in the house.

    Thanks

There are devices that you can buy that will detect bugging devices. The laws vary from state to state. Go to a search and put in video camera survillence laws and whatever state you live in. I know majority of the states have laws against placing a camera or recording device in a place where you wouldn't expect one to be (dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc...) without posting it. I am assuming a device in your residence without your knowledge would be against the law. How did you find out about it?

He confronted me with it. Saying he has proof that i have been cheating and emailed it to me. It is not proof as i never have done. I was on the phone with my best friend, who because of facebook asked me if i have a new boyfriend as we had added our relationship status to being in a relationship. My response is very clear on the tape and i am concerned that my ex is slightly crazy as it does not state anything of the sort.

Sounds like he has your telephone bugged. Could there possibly be other conversations that he has recorded and only sent you one and that's why he is claiming the recording says something that it doesn't? Is your telephone by any chance hooked up/connected to your computer?

There are no conversations that could or would imply me having an affair as i have never done so. I don't use my house phone either.

I do not know what state you live in, but yes you need to go to the police ASAP. Get your facts together, times of calls, what was said, any emails, any texts, etc......and get to the police.

            #1. Go to the police
#2. Have your locks changed ASAP
#3. Have your phone number changed
#4. Do not communicate with him for any reason (unless the police tell you to for investigation purposes)
#5. Get a restraining order ASAP

Do not treat this lightly (not saying you are). This is serious and you should be extremely concerned.

Beautiful Disaster is right. Go to the police - this is not normal behavior and sounds very dangerous to me. Did he tell you in person, or by email? Are the bugs still in the house?

I think "slightly" would be a huge understatement. Insecure people snoop though emails and text message. Crazy people bug houses.

                Listen to what BD says.

He told me on the phone. He says there are none in the house anymore but obviously i don't believe him. I feel like i am being watched/listened to all the time now and don't feel comfortable even talking to my daughter. I have the police coming round on Tuesday for a statement. Funny though the ex is wanting to get back together...

I know you're smarter than that though. Kudos on getting the police involved.
