Whether a person likes it or not, abortion has it's place. You did nothing wrong and it sounds like he is too immature for a serious relationship so count your blessings that he is gone. Believe me, there are better fish in the sea. 26 and his first "real job"- That was the tip off for me right there. At 26, most guys would have had a job for at least a couple of years and be well seated into it. You being in school would have been left to care for a child alone because he wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Sounds like you are much better off now than when you started. Yes, love is great - as long as it's true love and not all one sided. You did nothing wrong here, he did. Don't beat yourself up over him, he's not worth it. It sounds like he isn't ready to be a Daddy. A father- yes, but any barnyard animal can be a father. A Daddy is something special in a man, boy's just don't have it yet.
Hang in there and find a man to love you and support any decision you might make, just make sure he is man enough to discuss it too.
Good Luck to you and Welcome to the Forum!

I think this is a lesson in your friend's "maturity". He basically left the decision up to you.
OK. He makes half-hearted stabs at telling you he wants the child; but never COMMITS.
He "talks" about moving in together but does nothing to make that happen. He now is feeling "guilty" and wants to bathe his conscience in YOUR blood. He COULD have said- I love you I want this child Let's make this happen, BUT he didn't want the responsability. Just like making the decision to have sex without birth control. He wants it- but not the responsability for his actions. IMHO this "boy" needs to grow up and you need to decide if you want to "wait" for him to do it.
