When will he propose to me!?

I know this is a question that almost all women have at some point in their life when they are in a relationship with the person they know they want to spend the rest of their life with but I have to ask: HOW DO I GET HIM TO PROPOSE!? We have been great friends for over 6 years and have been together for the last 2+ years. We moved out of state together, we live together, we tell each other that we want to be together forever. We talk about children and our beliefs on how to raise them. We are currently renting a condo and he keeps talking about how we need to save just a little more money to buy a house soon... yada yada. We have an incredible relationship so I am not worried about anything that could be wrong. I am simply just SO ready to let him know that I want to commit myself. He recently got a really good job and he supports the both of us while I go to school so that might have an affect on why it is taking him sooo long, he might be waiting til I am done with school. But, how do I "knudge" him and let him know that I am SO ready to get married? I know that sounds so silly, but I am 27 and am not getting any younger! Any advice?

Maybe he is waiting for something like your finishing school?

Sounds like you have a good relationship. Why do you need to pin to a board and put a label on it?

He probably would just like you to be done with school and have a stable job before he takes that plunge.

Simply ask him if he wants to marry you or ask him if he sees a marriage anywhere in the near future

sounds like you two are overdue for a conversation about where you see yourselves in the future.

Discussing buying a home, children and child-rearing, etc is all well and good, but it also is nothing more than a pipedream until solid plans and expectations are laid out.

Sit him down, tell him how much he means to you, and how much you would love to be his wife someday. Ask him how he feels about that concept, how he feels about your relationship, about you... be casual, but be serious... no abstracts allowed - no "somedays" or "one day" or any passive talk like that. If you want to marry him, you must let him know that you're ready for that step and begin the conversation to see if he's ready too... then you can discuss things like a timeline (perhaps waiting until you're schooling is finished, or you have that house, or, etc, etc).

But just sitting around waiting for him to get a clue or miraculously know what you're thinking will go nowhere. Be upfront with him about how you feel.
