Is it wierd to want a friend with the same interests as me?
Is it crazy if I want a friend with the same career interest as me(fashion design). I mean I can understand if that isn't possible but I want someone I can better relate to. Someone who understands me better. Someone that has goals in life. I'd kind of like to have a friend that understands what it's like to be small and petite, and how difficult it is to find mature looking clothes and how often you get made fun of. Is this unrealistic? The rason I'm posting this is because I found out that none of my friends are true friends. Something really wrong happened with two of my close friends. I'd rather not talk about it here, but if someone is willing to talk to me in a PM then I can explain it.[FONT="Georgia"][SIZE="5"][COLOR="plum"]Love is my message.

It is always good to have friends with similar interests. It can also be good to have friends with similar values but different interests. Then both you and they can expand fields of interest. Fashion designing is more normal in large cities. They are where most of the designers go to.
My wife is so petite that when she came to the USA we explored children clothes as a possibility, but we found out that they were not shaped for an adult woman and that they were not very stylish. My wife found a number of store that carry more petite sizes including some ethnic ones. Am I right in assuming that there isn't as much variety in your area? Are there any stores that cater to Asian women?I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

no there aren't any stores here that cater to asian, most are targeting caucasian women. they do have a few stores for smaller women(as in size) but not necessarily for petite women. And I think you're right about the career. It is always good to have friends with similar interests. It can also be good to have friends with similar values but different interests. Then both you and they can expand fields of interest. Fashion designing is more normal in large cities. They are where most of the designers go to.

shouldnt be weird thats usualy what brings people closer
still with the boy friends i had it was difficult because not many boys tend to expect a girl to like the sort of thing the like and out "nerd" them when it comes to computers etc
back on topic
no its not strange or weird it only is if you think it isComment

I think it's natural to want friends you can relate to on many different levels. Just don't limit yourself because some of the best people in my life have little in common with me career wise, or body type. It's not weird, unless you make it weird.
As for clothes as such, you're 4'11" - 5' right? So is my best friend who is not only short, but very petite built. She has no trouble finding clothes. Pants CAN be a challenge, but it's doable. She shops is regular stores just like I do, looks for pants that are "Short" instead of "Regular" or "Tall". Sometimes if she finds pants she loves that are too long, she buys them and has them altered. No big deal.
It's a good idea to try not to focus so much on outward appearance. It's really not near as big of a deal as you make it.
