How to say it is over?!
I have been with my bf for 3 years now at first the relationship was okay but when I started entering law school, everything change. I can describe our relationship as the normal long distant relationship, although he did try to visit me at my place once in a while if he's going to report in his office because he is applying as a seaman. So i can say that he is jobless right now and just attending to his brother's business. The problem starts when I started going to law school as I have said earlier. He seems to be very mad at all my guy classmates and was always accusing of me of being to flirty with when in fact I dont. For all you girls out there, fyi, he knows my fb account and snoops at my account which I really dont like and that is where the fight always begin. Once he saw a comment of my guy classmate reply to my post he always get mad. And at one point my classmate, joke around saying that my other classmate and I were loveteams which is purely a joke because we recite together he took it against me and said that i was consenting to such joke which totally is a big slap on his face! I mean what the ? Im not cheating on him or something! Because of that it made me realize that i dont love him anymore. I dont do that to him. Sigh! Can someone help me with this, i really need your advise -
LDRs are not for everyone. Your bf seems insecure and jealous. He cannot handle the LDR. I doubt that he would handle you being an attorney, either. I think that his attitude has caused a split in your relationship, causing his fears to be realized. You cannot fix his problem without throwing away your career path and probably becoming controlled in the relationship. Its probably best to break it off solidly to have him move on the quickest. If you go through a series of splits and getting back together, he may become very unpredictable or even violent. Sorry about where this seem headed.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

I think you are different personalities on a completely different journey in life...
Seeing him "once in a while" over a period of 3 years? Gives nothing either to help you bond as one...
Jealousy is no trust, no trust equals also, no relationship.
I'd say it's over because of both of the above and there is nothing wrong with that, don't feel bad.
I'd just tell him that you still have feelings for him but not in the same light as you did before and it's over..PUT A LITTLE 'LIKE' IN MY SOUL!Comment

Miss Lex,
Nice to have you join us.
Everyone has already posted most of the Advise that I feel is reasonable.
I am glad you are leaning towards ending this. I do however feel that Waiting until his Birthday, or after it , is Procrastination in the sense ( as someone said ) Something will come up to give you a reason to not go through your decision to end it.
Personally , I would give him an " Early Birthday Gift " so to speak, I would sit down, write him a Nice " Goodbye John" letter, stressing how much you have cared and equally stressing how much you realize that you two are not made for each other, that it is time you both were free to seek other relationships and move on in your lives.
This I would do Gently and without Blame or Negativity.
To do this without trying to hurt him, would be to use the type of words Like...
I feel that You need , I want and you want, I Deserve and You Deserve, This is Best for us Both.
Don't say anything like " You are or were a Butt head, You did this wrong " .
Say things like " I felt and now feel ... That we are not Connected in the same way, Haven't the same Goals and expectations for the Future "
"I want both of us to find someone that we are Compatible with and can be happy with . And it is clear that we are not the one for each other "
End with ( if Possible) compliments on the good things that you believe he has instilled and you heartfelt wishes that he finds his True Love or Soul mate ".
And if possible, offer to remain Friends.
As I said... I would do this before his Birthday, so as if there was a Party or Celebration. You are not " Dumping " him after his Euphoric High of having you share his Birthday, acting like everything is cool and all's well between you two.

BabyGirl, thanks for the advise. Actually i do already have a goodbye letter for him. As i said I was just waiting for the time that we meet again so that I can give it to him and we can talk. Also, i just realized through my sched that it is my exam week on the 15th and I dont want bad karma. We are not seeing each other in his birthday due to my exam so probably would be the great time to let him have the idea that i think it over. And after that I will definitely tell him.Comment
